Leadership Message
Colossians 3:12-16
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.
This week we began our Monday assembly with scripture from Colossians that reminds us that we are God’s chosen people; created in the image and likeness of Him and welcomed into God’s family. We focused our prayers throughout the week on family. What does it mean to be a part of a family; God’s family, our own families, our JV family? What a beautiful gift family is. We learn and grow together, we love, we forgive, we trust, and we find hope and faith in our families. Being a part of a family can also have challenges at times. At times there is conflict and misunderstandings, trials and suffering and yet, because of God’s promise to us and His grace, we find the courage to accept these sufferings and love one another through it.
It is the same within a school community. We trust God’s model for us as His children and though we face challenges at times, we conquer this with faith and hope together. Every child who comes our way at Jean Vanier is a unique and valued member of God’s family and we continue to celebrate the JOY of each student.
This week’s challenge for students and staff was; Can you help your family by sharing an act of service? Did you notice at home any additional acts of service?
God Bless!
