Havel News Crew/Havel TV
The 2018-2019 Havel TV broadcast crew not only reports the news, sports and weather each morning on a live broadcast, they also bring us special announcements each day of the week. The fifth/six grade students who run the broadcast apply at the start of each school year and dedicated 15-20 minutes a morning preparing the live show. There are students who monitor and run the broadcast cart as well as a crew of announcers that rotate on a weekly basis. Watch for these superstars to shine in the future as this is only their first stop on their broadcast journey!

As a result of the inclement weather, the date for the electronic distribution of report cards has been revised. To provide teachers with the necessary time to complete report cards, the report cards will now be sent out to all parents by the end of the day on Tuesday, February 5, 2019.
Wintertime Activity Suggestions From Mrs. Langlois
Are your kiddos bouncing off the walls while you’re sitting there wondering how many more long months if winter do we have? Are you longing for those early spring days where you can say “Go outside and play!” Although it might take a little more effort, being active in the winter is an amazing opportunity to explore some new activities, it just takes a little thinking outside the box.
Staying active for FREE! Here are a few suggestions to keeping our bodies moving, despite cold temps outside.
- Build a snow man: This may seem simple, but this is a great way to get outside and also allow the kids to be creative in the process.
- Sledding: Even if you don’t have a hill near by you can make one going down a few steps, or pulling others around on sled can be equally as fun!
- Snow Ball Fight: Who doesn’t like a good snowball fight! Just make sure there are no face or head shots 😉
- Go for a walk: Try somewhere new! Check out a local park or some place you have never been before.
- YouTube Just Dance: You don’t need the actual video game to play, you can find many of your favorite song and dances on there!
- Search online for FREE activities in your area. Downtown Detroit has a free Winter Blast festival going on January 19th-21st with lots of outdoor activities.
Big on fun, not on dollars! Looking for a little something more but doesn’t empty your pockets? Check out some of these suggestions!
- Jump Rope: A decent but cheap jump rope can be purchased at many stores (5 and below, meijer, target, Marshall’s, etc) and can provide hours of entertainment and fun!
- Roller skating: Go check out skate world and be wowed at how cool roller skating has become again!
- Bowling: Check our Groupon for some great deals on local bowling alleys.
- Ice Skating: check out the new outdoor rink at Dodge Park (free to residents!) or any of the local ice rinks (Fraser, Onyx, Suburban Ice)
- Golf: Go to an indoor driving range and demo some new clubs while working on your golf game! And what a great set up to be active when the weather starts to turn 😉
A little splurge can go a long way! Looking for an all day activity that will give you all the return in memories and experience? Try some of these great ideas:
- Skiing: Pine Knob, Mount Brighton, and Alpine Valley are some great local ski resorts!
- Trampoline park: Airtime and Skyzone are hours of fun and entertainment for all ages.
- Joe Dumhars: Tons if indoor activities for the family, including putt putt, high ropes course,
- Feather Bowling: Bath City Bistro (Mt Clemens) or Cadieux Cafe (Grosse Pointe) have this amazing and unique activity that is fun for all ages.
- Indoor Rock Climbing: Lifetime fitness is right around the corner with some great rock walls. Even if you are not a member you can pay a little extra to climb the wall!
Best advice to staying active through these cold winter months...don’t over think it! Something is always better than nothing. And be resourceful. There are a lot of fun outdoor and active events provided by local business and cities so check out your local papers, websites, and billboards!
