junior youth group chavurah
What is the theme?
This years JYG theme is wrapped around social media and how it is used between teenagers. Our programs are focused on how social media is used now days and how it can affect decisions. Participates will be able to relate to the topics covered.
What is Junior Youth Group Chavurah?
Each year our 7th and 8th graders have an opportunity to be introduced to NFTY, North American Federation of Temple Youth. In 9-12th grade, all teens will be able to participate with NFTY at its best; becoming a leader, travel to programs, going to israel, making friends from all over the country, the list goes on. You have this one weekend opportunity to get a small taste of what your life will be like as a NFTY-ite!
Who will be there?
Every 7th and 8th grader from URJ Congregations in Missouri Valley (Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Illinois, Iowa and Wyoming) is invited. The B'nai Jehudah teens have been working hard to plan the programming. They will be there with a couple of teens from each congregation to lead the event and help the 7th and 8th graders learn about NFTY.
What happens over the weekend?
Each JYG participant will stay in the home of another local JYG participant or convergent along with other same-sex participants. Friday will include get-to-know you activites, Shabbat dinner, t'filah and crazy song session. Saturday will include T'fillah, educational programming, dinner with host families, an evening social, Havdalah, and of course time to hang out with old and new friends. Sunday morning all participants will come together to wrap-up and say good-bye before heading home.
