Important Updates For The Week
Mix it Up at Lunch Day, Monday June 5th
It’s a simple call to action for all grade levels: Take a new seat in the cafeteria. By taking a risk, students can cross the lines of division in a safe, supported environment, meet new people and help build an inclusive and welcoming school community. Students and staff will mix up their lunch tables and spark conversation with each other to learn something about the person sitting next to you.
Move Up Day, Tuesday, June 6th
Students will have the opportunity to move up to their 23-24 grade level. During this time, students will meet the new grade level teachers, learn about curriculum, and ask questions. This takes place 2:45-3:30pm, and will focus on students only. Parents will have the opportunity to meet their student's teacher at Back To School Night in September.

- The day's name is a blending of the words June and nineteenth.
- All but one state, as well as the District of Columbia, recognize the milestone of Black liberation in some shape or form. For example, some companies honor the occasion by giving their employees the day off.
- With Biden’s signature, Juneteenth is the first holiday to be approved since Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which was established in 1983.

Virtual Enrichment Summer Opportunity- Registration Close June 19th
To promote continuous learning over the summer, NPSD will be offering a summer enrichment opportunity for all elementary students who have completed grades K-6 in the 2022-2023 school year. This free virtual program is designed to be completed asynchronously, with the engagement of families. Our goal is to provide independent, engaging activities throughout the summer that are the perfect blend of academics and fun in order to best support continued growth for our students.
The program will offer four weeks of content starting on Monday July 3rd. New content will be posted every Monday. Registration will be required, and a link will be posted for families by May 15th to register their child. All information will also be posted to the NPSD website, and promoted through social media outlets. While the information is not posted yet, we want you to be able to promote it while sharing summer ideas and talking to your families. Please remember, this is different from SPARK, which is our in-person summer remediation program, and students must be invited to participate in that program.
Once the program begins, students will have access to four weeks of themed choice menus with activities that are aligned to grade level standards in ELA and Math, and will also incorporate movement, creativity, and more! Students will also have the opportunity to work through their personalized learning pathway on iReady for math and Freckle for ELA.

Smart Watch/ Cell Phone Reminder
We have seen a growing number of students using electronic devices and sending/receiving text messages throughout the day, which has disrupted the learning environment. Please note, cell phones should be in silent mode or turned off and stored in bookbags throughout the day. Smartwatches should not be used to make calls, send messages, or take photos/videos during the school day. Also, note the school is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal electronic devices. Our school team will be reminding our students of these expectations regarding personal devices.
We thank all of our families for their continued support and cooperation in limiting disruptions to the classroom.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
