Lakeside Elementary
Just the Facts...May 19, 2021
What Starts Here Changes The World...
I am looking forward to an enjoyable end of the year and am excited at the prospect of an even better 21-22 school year.
As always, thank you for your partnership.
News you can use...
Did you know our Lakeside harvest has made its way to your child's lunch tray?
- The salads in the cafe today feature fresh greens, kale and chard, from the Lakeside Garden.
- Tomorrow, the cafe will serve tastings of pizza bites with an onion topping. A big thank you to second grade for planting the onions way back in January and to our kindergarteners for harvesting them last week! The unused onions will be delivered to Metrocrest.
- Potatoes will be harvested today. These will go in Summer Sack Lunches for CISD learners along with recipes for how they can be prepared for a family meal.
This garden growth would not be possible without the initiative, dedication of Ms. Warren along with her staff and student collaborators.
Thank you and happy lunching!
Field Day
Field Day is Friday
- The weather may or may not cooperate. If the weather is a simple drizzle of rain, we will still participate in our outdoor fun. If the rain is a downpour or is unsafe (lightning, etc) then field day will move inside and will include alternate activities.
- Ms. Head and our PTO have already adjusted our bounce house locations so the kids can use them (rain or shine). Thank you!
- We will incorporate a game day on field day should the weather require us to stay in. Please consider sending some board games with your child on Friday. Any board games that are sent should be labeled with your child's name and should be age appropriate.
Repeated:
Here are some details to get you ready for our fun-filled day
Field Day Information:
All K- 5th grade learners will be doing 11 different activities outside. K-2nd grades from 8:30-11:15, and 3rd-5th grades from 8:45-11:30. Pre-K will be outside for just a short period, 30-45 minutes. They will be mainly completing activities in the gym. Please apply sunscreen at home.
During field day, learners will be on different surfaces (grass and cement), so sneakers are a must.
During the fun flusher your child will become VERY wet if they choose to sit under the flusher, so please have them bring a complete change of clothing. Pre-K will not be participating in any water activities.
During field day, all learners must wear shorts, and a “top.” “Tops” can be a tank top, swim shirt, and/or t-shirt. (No bikini tops)
There will be a school wide snack break during the morning provided by PTO.
After morning drop off, both loops will be closed.
Since we have several fun stations located in the Cafe Parking Lot. This area will not be accessible for parking on May 21st until after 12:00. So, please plan to walk or bike to school that morning.
