STM III Reflection: Teaching as a Ministry
For Catholic teachers, teaching is more than just a job, or a career, or a paycheck. It's a calling, a vocation, a ministry. Ministry means "to serve." To take part in ministry has meant to carry on God's work in the world. Ministry is above all a privilege. (pg. 45) Ministry requires that we surrender so that God can use us in powerful ways. (pg. 46) As Catholic teachers we are called to strive to live a life of goodness and virtue. When we don't, it impacts our ability to do our job, which in turn diminishes the school's ability to fulfill its mission. (pg. 47)
If you had to write an oath for teachers, what would it say?

Trusting your gut as you grade.
SBG still requires us to trust our gut feelings. Computerized scoring can't do it all- nor should it.
