What are Dietary Supplements?

A dietary supplement is a dietary ingredient taken by mouth intended to supplement the diet. These include vitamins, minerals, herbs and amino acids. They come in capsules, gel-caps, tablets, soft gels, liquids, and powders.

Under the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act, a firm is responsible for making sure that the dietary supplements it distributes are safe and truthful to the advertised effects.
