MISDEF: Together We Grow
Hello Longhorn Parents and Staff!
The Montgomery ISD Education Foundation is hosting its first community fundraiser, Together We Grow, on Saturday, April 24th from 7-11pm. This event is the remodeled version of their annual Gala, and will take place outdoors at the Old Community Center in Historic Montgomery. The Education Foundation board is putting great effort into making this event an inclusive and community-wide venture that will be a successful fundraiser for their scholarship and teacher grant programs. I'm telling you about this event because I need your help!
At the event that night (which we hope you will attend!) the foundation will be rewarding a $2000 campus grant to one MISD Principal and I would LOVE for Lone Star Elementary to win! There will be hustle teams of parents from LSE working at the event, selling sponsorship tickets to those in attendance that want to support our cause. The campus with the most hustle will win! The good news is, the hustle STARTS NOW!
Below (and on YouTube) you will see a video of me explaining what we will do with the money if our campus wins, and I need you to do a few things to spread the word:
- Watch the video!
- Click on THIS LINK and purchase campus sponsorship tickets (at the very bottom) to help our school win. This is where the hustle happens folks! Make sure you put Lone Star Elementary in the blank so we get the credit for your purchase!
- While you're on the link, go ahead and purchase tickets to attend this great night! Get a babysitter and come support our amazing district! It will be a great night of BBQ, live music AND MORE in the heart of our growing town!
- SHARE the link and SHARE my video on all your social media platforms! Anyone can purchase tickets to support our hustle, and anyone can attend our event, so let's help the Longhorns come out on top!
- LIKE and FOLLOW the MISD Education Foundation Page on Facebook HERE. You can even tag them when you make your posts about the event!
By the way, If you own a business and would like to help the Education Foundation by being an event sponsor, the link provided also provides the different levels of giving, and you can purchase a reserved table for you and your neighbors!
The MISD Education Foundation is hopeful that this community-wide event will bring together our parents, community leaders, staff and administration to support the goals of our wonderful district, for it is true that "Together We Grow!"
7 Habits at Home: Habit 7 - Sharpen the Saw - soul
Another way to keep your saw sharpened is by keeping your soul healthy. That can sometimes be tricky – how do you know if it's healthy or not?
Now a day's people tend to do a lot of worrying and can keep these worries inside. That’s not healthy for your soul. But fixing it can be as easy as writing it down.
You can start a daily journal. In the evening before bed you can write down your day. Write everything that was good for the day and also anything that may not have gone the way you hoped. Also write down anything that you may be worried about. Now, put the journal away for the night. By writing it down it helps to take things off of your mind. This will help your soul to be healthy and you will sleep better, which makes your mind healthy.
See how they all work together. That makes your saw very sharp.

Dear Lone Star Families,
Thank you again parents for reaching out to us and keeping your kids home with any symptoms new for them. We have had kids vomiting and with diarrhea here this week. This is no fun for anyone, most especially the ill person. In Oct 1985, my husband and I were gifted with a trip to Rome. I started feeling nausea on the long flight over the Atlantic and it worsened with each tour packed day. It culminated with me getting sick in the damp, tiny, musky Sistine Chapel. The ceiling did more than inspire awe for me. After returning home I sipped Ginger Ale, nibbled saltines, and discovered the source of the nausea. We welcomed our first daughter 7 months later!
LSE clinic web page has a link to latest info from CDC by date. New studies show touching objects with invisible colonies of germs is not the main way that Coronavirus spreads. The main way people are infected with Covid is through exposure to respiratory droplets carrying the virus. In most situations, cleaning surfaces using soap or detergent, and not disinfecting, is enough to reduce risk. Disinfection is recommended for indoor surfaces where someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 has been in the previous 24 hours. The risk of spreading the virus can be reduced by wearing masks consistently and correctly, practicing hand hygiene, and cleaning.

monica.lemke@misd.orgWeekly COVID Positive Case Notification (April 12-16)
Dear Lone Star Elementary Parents and Staff,
During the week of April 12-16, we were not notified about any positive COVID-19 tests for individuals in our building.
A close contact is defined as someone within 6 feet of the individual for 15 minutes or longer without protective face coverings or someone who was directly exposed to infectious secretions. We feel it is our responsibility to keep our parents and staff informed as much as possible during this time. Disinfecting of the building continues to happen on a nightly basis. Teachers and staff are diligently cleaning commonly touched surfaces throughout the day according to TEA Guidelines.
We are taking every step possible to stop the spread to others. If you are experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19, we strongly encourage you to consult with your health care provider and communicate with your campus nurse. We will continue to monitor the situation and report required information to the Montgomery County Health Department.
Sincerely,
Lone Star Elementary Administration
