February Students of the Month

A shield provides protection to the one who bears it. Aquin Schools strive to provide each student with a shield of Responsibility, Respect, Faith, Leadership, Service, Knowledge and Character. Each month from October through April, Aquin is recognizing three students who display the month’s quality of the shield. Students are nominated by staff and faculty at both campuses and then selected by Administration. Winners are awarded a coveted 'Free Jean Day' coupon!

Leadership is February's shield and Aquin Schools are proud to announce their ‘Students of the Month’ for February: Senior High--Jenna Diehl, Junior High--Megan Holder, Elementary--Adam Awender

If you are interested in learning more about Aquin’s ‘Guardian of the Shield’ sponsor program, or want to learn more about joining the Aquin family, please contact Laura at 815-235-3154 x 226.

Aquin presents 'Emma, A Pop Musical'

Emma, a senior at Highbury Prep, is certain she knows what's best for her classmates' love lives, and is determined to find the perfect boyfriend for shy sophomore Harriet by the end of the school year. But will Emma's relentless matchmaking get in the way of finding her own happiness? Based on Jane Austen's classic novel, this sparkling new musical features the hit songs of legendary girl groups and iconic female singers from The Supremes to Katy Perry. Girl power has never sounded so good!

Showtimes are 7:00pm on Friday, March 15 and Saturday, March 16 and 2:00 on Sunday, March 17. Tickets will be available beginning Monday, March 4, to families of cast and crew only. Tickets go on sale to the public on Tuesday, March 5. Tickets are available at the Aquin High School office at 1419 South Galena during school hours. Ticket prices are $7 Adults, $5 Students and Seniors. Tickets can also be purchased at the door before the performance. If you have any questions, please call Peg at 815.235.3154 x 224.

Sound Check on Sunday!

The stage is set in the St. Thomas Church Music Ministry Room for student musicians and singers--Grade 3 and up--to come at 9:30am for music and more. Learn how to use the mics, soundboard, keyboard, drums and your voice to praise our Lord. We'll go through the songs for Mass that day and have lots of fun learning about our musical talents.

The 'Student Only' sessions will be held every Sunday and run from 9:30-10am. Our St. Thomas musicians will join us at 10 and rehearse for the 10:30am Mass. Then we'll all go to Mass and sing our praises to God and share our gifts with the St. Thomas parishioners and guests. Stay for what you can, no requirements or registration needed--just a love for sharing your gifts from the Lord!

If you have any questions about this exciting new program, please contact St. Thomas Music Coordinator, Laura Diemer at laura.diemer@aquinschools.org or call/text 815-541-2596.

Becca's Closet Opens Saturday, March 9!

The first Becca’s Closet was created by Rebecca Kitman, a 16 year old Florida high school sophomore. Becca recognized that there were many girls in her community who were unable to attend their high school proms and homecomings because they could not afford to purchase formalwear for the dances. She launched a dress drive to provide prom dresses and accessories free of charge so that no girl would have to miss these special events. Becca was tragically killed in an automobile accident shortly after starting her “closet.” Her friends and family continued her mission by forming a national “Becca’s Closet” program, with 90 chapters to date. Rockford is the only city in the state of Illinois with an active Becca’s Closet chapter.
