We are SO glad to have you as a member of WashCoLit Chapter! We also welcome our New Teachers from NTA and community members to join our group. Let's explore what WashCoLit can do for you and how you can get involved in fostering literacy across Washington County.

Join us for the One Maryland One Book Author Event!
Join us on November 3, 2019 at 6pm in the Ballroom at MD Theatre to hear author, Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha talk about her book, What the Eyes Don't See. Hear her story of how a small group of people, working together, exposed a lead water crisis and changed the lives of the children of Flint, Michigan.
This event is open to the public. Seating is limited (less than 300) so be sure to come early to get your seat. All ages are welcome!

A great picture book for young children based on a true story. The young girl in this story must work hard each day to bring water to her home.
You Wouldn't Want to Live Without Clean Water
This is an informational text about what it might you didn't have clean water. This book is suitable for elementary age students.
Every Last Drop: Bringing Clean Water Home
A informational text by Michelle Mulder about the importance of clean water. This book could be used with grades 3 and up.
The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind
This book, by Brian Mealer has been published in 3 different versions; picture book, young adult version, and adult version. This book is based on a true story.
Dry by Neal & Jarrod Shusterman
What if you woke up and all the water was gone? This suspenseful and action packed young adult novel is a glimpse of what it would be like to not have water and the repercussions on society.
A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park
This story about what it would be like to live in a home without water. This powerful story is great for middle or high school students.
