Alief Idol Final Round
Judging the final round of Alief Idol will be:
Justin "I AM Justified" Milburn is a motivational speaker and music artist specializing in empowering people to find their purpose.
JesKa Mone'a is a singer-songwriter and fashion designer. Her unique original Neo-Soul sound is attributed to her favorite genres of music which include Blues and Hip-Hop.
SUN is a native of Alief, Texas. He refers to his music as reality rap. SUN currently runs Tsunami Management, representing hip-hop artists in the music industry across the globe.
Madeline Edwards is a singer-songwriter and native Houstonian by way of Santa Barbara, California. Blending the influences of west coast jazz and southern soul, Madeline creates music and stories that challenge and encourage her listeners to be vulnerable and authentic.
Other Alief Proud News
Alief ISD high school students advanced to state competitions after competing in the Region IV South round of the Texans for Future Educators (TAFE) organization.
Taylor High School student Karla Cardenas was also named the new TAFE Region IV South President for 2020-2021. This is Taylor High School's third year in a row to hold the position of Region IV South President School.
Hastings and Kerr High School speech and debate students advanced to state competitions after placing at regionals.
Clinton Oreofe (Hastings), Syed Fatmi (Kerr) and Joshua Romero (Kerr) advanced to state competitions, which will be held in January 2020. Fatmi was also named the UIL 6A Congressional Debate Champion.
Hastings and Kerr competed amongst more than 70 other top debaters in the most competitive region in the state.

A special guest calls into the ImpactED studios: Thien An Nguyen, who was the first Alief Idol winner, graduated from Kerr High School this past spring and is currently attending the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. Superintendent HD Chambers chats with Nguyen, Kimberly Smith (Alief ISD Director of Public Relations) and Michelle Lopez (Alief ISD Fine Arts Facilitator) about the significance of fine arts in student learning, the role it plays in fostering a sense of community in schools and the future of arts integration.
