Hello Mustangs!
This will be the last Newsletter for the 20-21 school year. We will be sending information out via email text in late July for “save the dates”, please keep an eye out for AMS communications.
AMS is currently undergoing numerous bond renovations. As we get closer to the new school year we will update parents on what 6th grade orientation will look like, as well as other back to school events. We plan on “in person” orientations so our newest Mustangs have a chance to come together as a class and build relationships before the school year begins.
I would like to thank our students, parents, and staff for working together to get through a very difficult year. I am glad that we are beyond this school year and looking forward to being with ALL of my students and staff next year!
As we look ahead to next year, there have been a bunch of questions from parents about learning recovery from the pandemic. Be assured that the AMS staff and administration have already developed a plan for reading and math interventions, as well as other academic and social emotional supports and options. We have increased our interventions and staffing for all students to ensure they are receiving personalized supports and tiered instruction to meet them at their current academic level while supporting and encouraging academic growth.
Please reach out to your student’s counselor if you have questions or concerns in August regarding your students’ academics for the upcoming year.
Reminders!!!
All kindergartners, 7th graders, and new students enrolling in our district that are attending Avondale Schools this fall need to be current on their immunizations or have a waiver on file.
Report cards have been printed and will be mailed out next week. In the meantime, you can see your student marks via Parent Connect.
With Mustang Pride!
Jason Ohrt
Proud Principal of Avondale Middle School
