Fall Fundraiser Information

Fall Fundraiser Information from PTO President Mrs. Jessica Wilkins:

Hello Pirates!

I hope all of you are having a great week! I have some exciting news to share...our Fall Fundraiser packets will be coming home to you on Monday/Wednesday next week! We will be participating in a Scratch & Give. Simply, this means that you will have a friend/relative to choose 2 spaces to scratch off and donate their total. On average this amount is around $3. You will then give them one of the coupon sheets attached to your book. The PTO was able to get several local businesses to add a coupon to the sheets!

All K-8 students will receive a fundraiser packet. As you complete your book please turn your packet with money back into your teacher. If there are High School students that would like to participate in the fundraiser please let me know and we will make sure you receive a book.

All money from the fundraiser will be due on 10/7/19 & 10/9/19.

We are so excited about this HUGE opportunity to raise funds to feed right back into our Powerful Pirates!

As always, any questions or suggestions for the PTO please reach out to any of the board members!

Happy Sailing!

Message from the MS Teachers:

Good morning!

Attached is a PDF of the checklists for each grade. They have also been uploaded to Google Classroom for students.

Reminder: Drop off for middle school students begins at 8:45am. The only exception for students arriving earlier is if they have a sibling who is in the elementary program.

We sent out progress reports in an email on Friday. If you did not receive one, we do not have a good email for you. These reports will also be going out on paper today as well. If we have requested a parent-teacher conference with you, make sure you reach out to us with days and times that you are available to meet. We will schedule those conferences as soon as possible.

Science Olympiad Interest Meetings are this week! All students K-8 are welcome to participate! These meetings will be held in Mrs. Young's rooms at each campus.

  • Mary Potter: Tuesday, October 1st from 1-2pm
  • Tar River: Wednesday, October 2nd from 1-2pm

I will be asking student preferences of what events they may want to participate in - click here for this year's list of middle school events.

Class Rings, Caps & Gowns

Are you planning to Graduate this year (2019-2020)?

Then you are in need of a cap and gown! It is recommended that students communicate with Mrs. Annette Glass and/or Mrs. Teresa McCollum about getting a cap & gown. Students also have the opportunity to attend the lunch meetings with NC Graduate Services. They will be at SGHS on Monday, September 30th during lunch. 12-2p.m. They will take ring and cap and gown orders. Please advise Mrs. Glass if you plan to attend the opportunity at SGHS on Monday, September 30th. We must know if you plan to attend to be prepared for campus visitors.

If you are interested in checking out the Class Rings, as a 9-11th grade student, they will be discussing and displaying options of these, too on September 30th. There are Class Ring Packets in the office at GA's headquarters on the GA Mary Potter Campus. Stop by and pick one up if you'd like to see what's available in Class Rings.
