Liberty Parent Update
Liberty Elementary - Keller ISD
Morning Arrival and Afternoon Dismissal Reminders
We have had a FANTASTIC start to the school year! Your child is probably feeling a bit more independent and would like to walk in the building without you. This is completely normal. Our kiddos are doing a great job of getting to their classrooms each morning. Please know we have adults throughout the building to assist any student in need.
You received information regarding Arrival & Dismissal at Meet the Teacher Night and a Parent Update with a quick video on this process before school began. Feel free to refer back to this information for guidance at any time.
A couple of quick reminders:
- Please stay in your car at arrival and dismissal and we will open doors for kids to get out/in safely. This is also a great time for them to learn to buckle their own seatbelt. If you need to help them buckle, please park the car in a parking spot and assist them.
- Always cross at the crosswalk directly in front of the school - this is a safety issue especially in the morning with cars facing the sun and helps everyone to see people if you cross at the designated spot. Please do not drop off at the first crosswalk. Instead, drive down the driveway and let students exit in the designated area. Look for those blue drop off signs and begin letting kids exit cars then.
- In the morning, students need to exit closest to the curb. Please do not let them exit in the middle of the lane.
- If your child needs help carrying items, feel free to park and help them inside the building.
- In the afternoon, you can use the drive-through lane next to the left lane to exit after you pick up your child for a quicker way to leave.
- Carpool tags are a great way to reduce the lines in the front of the building. If you drive at least 2 LES kids to and from school, you can pick up the carpool tag in the office and use the back drive before and after school. Carpool uses the back door of the school to enter the building.
Check out our youtube video on arrival/dismissal procedures by clicking this link: LES arrival and dismissal procedures video.
School hours are 7:55 a.m. - 3:10 p.m. Our doors open at 7:30 a.m. for students to enter the building.
Campus Security Updates for 18-19
The safety and security of our students is always our top priority, and each year, in consultation with the Keller ISD Director of Safety and Security, we re-evaluate our procedures in order to improve. The safety of our students is always our top priority.
Starting this year, all adults will be required to show their drivers license if they are volunteering, eating lunch with your child or picking up early.
When you enter the office area, please be sure to have your driver’s license ready to scan. The office staff will process parents as quickly as possible, but we ask for your patience as we learn new faces and names. The badging process will become much faster as we move through the school year.
If you are checking your child out of school early, please plan to arrive 5 to 10 minutes early so we can locate your child and get them packed to leave.
We look forward to your continued partnership as we make 2018-19 the best year yet!
