A Note from the Nurse About Student Absence:
Whenever your child will be absent from school, parents/guardians should call the
School Attendance Line, (203)758-1911, by 9:00 am, to make the school aware that your
child will be absent. If your child will be coming to school late, please call the
attendance line to notify the school, as well.
Within 10 days after an “incident of absence” a written or online Reason for Absence
note must be completed and submitted to the MES School Office.
We hope this clarifies any confusion about reporting absences. Thank you!
Vision and Hearing Screenings
To MES parents/guardians:
Starting on October , 2022, the School Nurse will conduct vision and hearing screening for students in Grades 1, 3, 4, and 5 in the MES Health Office. Health screenings are important strategies to promote the health and wellness of students. They provide early detection of potential health concerns that could prevent students from taking full advantage of educational opportunities in school. Students who have eyeglasses should bring or wear them to school for vision screening.
You will receive a written referral if further evaluation by a physician is recommended. If you receive a referral, please ask the examining physician to fill out the form and return the form to the MES Health. Please contact the School Nurse if you have any questions concerning hearing or vision screening.
Thank you.
