Rose Lane Principal Letter...
Hello, Rose Lane Families and CareGivers:
Today is the final day of school for the calendar year 2021! I'm so grateful to our staff in all departments at Rose Lane for helping students learn, grow, and thrive during four and a half months; and I'm very proud of the children for working so hard each and every day.
December has been a wonderful month, featuring a very successful Penguin Patch Holiday Shoppe; an awesome spirit day; a field trip for 4th grade; and a Field Day for 3rd and 4th grade. Our community is amazingly supportive, and we are grateful for your active role. We could not do it without you, beautiful families and caregivers!
Recently, we finished our winter MAP testing, during which all grade levels participated in computer-based testing related to their grade level standards. Teachers will use this data to make precise instructional decisions to help our kiddos continue to grow their proficiency in reading and math. To help support them at home, please encourage them to keep reading and practicing their math skills (especially during our two-week break), so they are ready to grow, grow, grow, grow, grow from January to the end of the year.
We are very thankful for the many, many parents who have paid their $50 activity fee. If you have not already done so, please navigate to your Powerschool Parent Portal at https://msd38.powerschool.com/public/ or the Madison website to make your payment. We fund our Cool Kids Recess program from activity fees, as well as pay for field trip admissions and transportation. Should you wish to make an additional donation, you are able to do so on the MSD website at https://madisonaz.org/community/tax-credit/. The Tax Credit program allows every person who files an income tax return with the State of Arizona the opportunity to receive a tax credit for contributing to extracurricular activities. Anyone can participate: married or single, with or without children. Married couples filing jointly may claim up to $400. Single persons, heads of households, and married couples filing separately may all claim up to $200.
When we return on January 3rd, 2022, we ask that you continue to follow all of our procedures for safe drop-off and pick-up, most especially when exiting and entering vehicles, crossing at the marked crosswalks, and when driving through the intersection at 12th Street and Rose Lane. Safety may not be convenient, but it is the most important aspect of our operation. Again, we can't do it without you and are grateful for your support.
You may have also seen the communication regarding volunteers coming back on campus. I know how eager you are to help out in designated areas at school. I ask for your patience until the new mitigation plan comes out, and also until we are ready to accommodate teachers' needs and parents' enthusiasm. We will send out an email blast with the procedures for volunteering shortly after break. Meanwhile, have a safe, peaceful, and wonderful break with your families, and we will see you back here at Rose Lane in 2022!
Sincerely,
Rose Devine
