MATHEMATICS
We just started Unit 4 adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators. This unit will take us into the third week of January. During our academic center time I have been quizzing students on their multiplication facts. If your child brings home a set of flash cards please practice with them and sign the return slip. I am asking that you review at least five times with them and initial the boxes each time. It is important that or students know and memorize their facts:)
SCIENCE
We are still moving along with our Body Systems unit. Students have learned about the skeletal, muscular, digestive, and excretory systems. Our first assessment is today. Students took home with them yesterday a short study guide sheet. We will then move into the nervous system tomorrow and continue through with respiratory and circulatory systems. Our final assessment will be right before winter break. We will then dissect our deer hearts as well getting a close up look at how blood travels through the heart! :)
LANGUAGE ARTS
We are finishing our Wonder unit. The students have really enjoyed the book. We will be wrapping up this and starting an information text unit on holidays around the world. Also for this trimester students will need to have 15 AR points. We do start over each trimester
SOCIAL STUDIES
We are finishing up Explorers and we will be starting early English settlements
