7th and 8th Grade Parents To Take California Schools Parent Survey
All 7th and 8th grade parents are encouraged to take the California Schools Parent Survey (CSPS) before May 21st. Please click this link to access the survey: https://wested.ugam-apps.com/wed/ts/zQeZ
The CalSCHLS system was created by the California Department of Education (CDE) in 1997 to efficiently and cost-effectively provide school districts and their partner communities with quality local data which can be used to improve student academic performance and social-emotional, behavioral, and physical health of all youth. It assesses key indicators linked to success in school, career, and life. There are three parts to this survey:
- California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS) - Completed by 7th-grade students
- California School Staff Survey (CSSS) - taken by Correia Staff
- California School Parent Survey (CSPS)
All three surveys were developed by WestEd with the help of Duerr Evaluation Resources and expert advisory committees of educators, researchers, and practitioners. The staff and parent surveys were added to address the needs of districts for data on school working conditions, parent involvement, and enable comparison of staff and parent perspectives to student self-reports. Follow this link for more information.
Parents of 7th-grade students have the option to not have their child complete this survey. Parents requesting their child not take the survey should complete this online google form prior to Monday, May 17th. 8th-grade families DO NOT need to complete this form because 8th grade students do not complete this survey.
IMPORTANT: State CAASP Testing Update
The district will use the FastTrack as our reading assessment and the DEMI - District Essential Mathematics Indicators for our mathematics assessment.
FastTrack Reading is a computer adaptive, standards-aligned reading assessment combined with selected grade-level skill and comprehension tests. We currently utilize the FAST test to provide reading levels. The Fast timeline remains the same with the window open until June 15. Our English teachers will provide a schedule for the Fast assessment.
The testing window for the DEMI closes on May 21st as sections of the assessment need to be hand-scored. Our Math teachers will assess Q4 math students during the math classes. OUr teachers will assess Q3 math students on Friday, May 14th.
More information will be sent out this week regarding Friday's schedule.
We appreciate your support while we adjust to this short timeline!

SUMMER SCHOOL INFO
Correia is hosting summer school this year to support students. Families of students who have been identified as priority candidates for the summer online program have already received a message. There are two models...onsite and online. The onsite model is a four-week program in the areas of English, Math, Science, and History. This onsite model can also be accessed online. An additional online model supports students needing to recover credits for Integrated Math 1 Adv and Spanish 1/2 and 3/4. The program is accelerated into two blocks...6/21/21-7/9/21 and 7/12/21-7/30/21. SDUSD will use the Edgenuity Online Program for online summer school. Edgenuity is the platform used at iHIgh Virtual High School.
If you have not been contacted by Correia and would like your student to participate in the Summer Learning Opportunities please visit https://levelupsandiego.org/.

Planning for Fall 2021
On April 28th at the Board Meeting, both Board President Richard Barrera and Superintendent Cindy Marten clarified the district’s plans for the fall. Here is what they shared:
San Diego Unified is planning for a full return to full-day, in-person learning, five days a week, for the 2021-22 school year, beginning in August of 2021. All of the work we are doing today is in service of welcoming the students back to campus now, in the summer, and in the fall. Our fall programming will not include a hybrid model for students and our educators will not be required to simultaneously teach both our onsite instructional model and our online instructional model.
We are in the process of developing a robust online learning program for students who will choose an online instructional model. Therefore, we will be able to accommodate students and families who choose to remain at home based on health and safety needs and students and families with sensitive medical needs. We look forward to an amazing year of learning, as we welcome back our students and families with excitement, enthusiasm, and joy.
We will continue to share information with Correia families as it is made available to us.
Textbook Collection for Q3 Classes
We will continue materials collection for Q3 books Thursday this week. If students would like to begin to return the books they are no longer using, please have them put Q3 books in a disposable bag and drop them off at the entrance as they arrive at school.
We will process all returns after the sanitizing process is complete.
