The Great Hammerhead Shark eats rays, squid, octopus, crustaceans, crabs, lobsters and other sharks (if necessary). It is a carnivore and also a cannibal.The Hammerhead is a higher ranked shark on the food chain.
Characteristics
Hammerheads can grow up to 20 feet and weigh up to 1000 pounds. They are known for their mallet shaped head which allows for superior visual range. Because it has a larger sensory organ in its head, the hammerhead can detect electromagnetic currents better than other sharks giving it an advantage in hunting prey.
