Principal Message
If you have walked or driven by Fammatre this week, you might have noticed cars in our parking lot. Teachers have been quite busy on campus the last several days cleaning out student desks, taking projects off the walls, and packing each child's belongings into bags.
Next week on May 5-7 is your chance to pick up your child’s property at school and to drop off school property (e.g. library books, recorders, kinder book bags, and band instruments) from your house.
Parent Pick-Up of Student Property and Drop Off Library Books and Instruments
Parents are invited to drive through the Fammatre parking lot on the designated dates/times below to pick up their child’s belongings from Fammatre. Please arrive during the specific time window for your child's grade level. This will be the only opportunity to pick up your child’s property at school.
At this time, we also expect you to drop off school property that may still be at your home, including:
- School library books
- Kindergarten Book Bags with library books
- Musical instruments (recorder, band)
Process:
- To ensure the safety of all, please remain in your cars during the entire process.
- Please continue to adhere to all safety guidelines issued by the County of Santa Clara.
- Before arriving at Fammatre, write your child’s Last Name, First Name and their Teacher's name in large print on a piece of paper.
- Upon arrival, put the paper with your child's name on it in the passenger side dashboard/windshield so it is visible as you pull into the Fammatre parking lot.
- Fammatre Staff will read your child's name via walkie talkie to staff members at the far end of the loop so that their bag of belongings can be ready for pick-up when you reach the end of the parking lot loop.
- Drive to the end of the parking lot loop and stay in your car
- A staff member will hand you the bag of your child's belongings
- Another staff member will collect any school property from you (library books, instruments, recorders)

EMPLOYEES OF THE YEAR - CONGRATULATIONS MRS. VO AND MR. CALVERT!
Fammatre's Certificated Employee Teacher of the Year
It is an honor to announce that Mrs. Dawn Vo is Fammatre's Certificated Employee Teacher of the Year! Mrs. Vo touches the hearts and minds of the students, families, and staff with whom she interacts. She is passionate about educating the whole child. She has been a vocal champion for ensuring that social-emotional development does not get lost in the shuffle of juggling the ever-increasing academic demands on students. She makes learning fun and engaging. An incredibly humble and gracious team player, Mrs. Vo is always approachable and willing to collaborate and help others. Mrs. Vo goes out of her way to make everyone feel included and valued. She is a constant reminder of all that is good in education and the “why” behind teaching. We are so very proud to have her in our midst. Congratulations Mrs. Vo!
Fammatre's Classified Employee of the Year
Mr. David Calvert has been selected as this year's Classified Employee of the Year. Mr. Dave, as students fondly refer to him, goes way above and beyond his job duties to support students and staff and to make Fammatre a more beautiful place to learn and grow. Mr. Calvert's calm, caring, and friendly demeanor enables him to immediately build a strong rapport with students. He is quick to recognize when students are doing the right thing and positively reinforces the Fammatre Be’s. Students love learning about gardening from Mr. Dave! Mr. Calvert is also one of the most dedicated volunteers around. On the weekends he can often be found planting new crops of vegetables in our gardens. We appreciate all you do for Fammatre! Congratulations Mr. Calvert!

Census 2020
As of April 23, 62.6% of households in Santa Clara County have self-responded to the 2020 Census. However, there are still several of our neighbors that run the risk of being undercounted. Respond now and encourage your family members, your friends, and your neighbors to do the same. The Census informs funding for educational programs that benefit our children, like after-school activities, school meal programs, and Head Start.
Participate in the census now by responding online at my2020.gov or by phone with a customer representative: 844-330-2020. Customer service representatives are available in 12 languages.
