Resurrection-St. Paul School
News and Notes
It is finally starting to feel like spring! The sun has been coming out from behind the clouds, we can put our windows down in the car to feel the warm breeze and many of us are finding our way to ball fields for spring sports. We enjoy this time of year for the renewed energy it brings us and the hope it inspires for warmer and longer days ahead. It is no coincidence that Lent falls around this time of year as it is a time for us to prepare our minds, hearts, bodies, and souls for the coming Easter season.
As we embark on spring cleaning our homes and cars, please remember to donate your outgrown or no longer needed footwear in support of the shoe drive. At school, we are also doing some spring cleaning. 8th grade students worked alongside Mrs. Grue and Mrs. Keys to pull weeds and clear out the outdoor Stations of the Cross. This Friday, students were able to participate in the Stations of the Cross which were guided by 6th-8th grade students. It is always nice to see our students become leaders in our faith traditions. We welcome you to go on a self-guided Stations of the Cross journey at your leisure.
During this next week, students in Grades 2-8 will be participating in the AOB-wide standardized testing. We will begin testing each morning as soon as morning announcements are over.
Here are some reminders for testing:
- Please make sure your child(ren) arrive on time each morning. If they should be late, they will not be able to join their class until the testing session is over for the day and will then have to make up those missed sections at a later date.
- Students will be testing for approximately 45 minutes each day. Regular classes will be held after the testing window closes each day. There will be a modified homework load assigned during this week.
- Students in Grades 4-8 will need a working set of earbuds or headphones for portions of the online testing. Please make sure your student has a working pair for Monday morning.
- Monday evening the HSA will be having an Executive Board meeting. All are welcome to join. There will be many opportunities for HSA board positions for the coming school year. Feel free to come to learn about each position and what the HSA does to support the school community.
Blessings,
The RSPS Administrative Team

3rd Grade Bonnie Mega Cabbage Program
Our third graders will be participating in Bonnie's 3rd Grade Mega Cabbage Program. They took home their mega cabbage plants this week. They will plant their cabbages and then record data about the cabbage's growth. We wish our third graders good luck as they try to cultivate the largest cabbage. According to the program's website:
"Each year, Bonnie trucks more than one million free O.S. Cross, or “oversized” cabbage plants to 3rd Grade classrooms across the country*, whose teachers have signed up for the program here. If nurtured and cared for, kids can cultivate, nurture and grow giant cabbages, some bigger than a basketball, tipping the scales, often over 40 pounds!
The program awards a $1,000 scholarship to one student in each participating state. At the end of the season, teachers from each 3rd grade participating class select the student who has grown the “best” cabbage, based on size and appearance. A digital image of the cabbage and student is submitted online and that student’s name is then entered in a random statewide drawing. State winners are randomly selected by the Commission of Agriculture, in each of 48 participating states."
