Week 10- Term 2 2022
Kia ora e te whānau,
Well we have all made it to the end of term.
Although we have had some sickness during the term, it has been a good term at school with some great learning taking place.
We have been impressed with the adaptability the children have shown with teachers' absences due to sickness. They have shown Grit as well as care for Others.
Next term we will be teaching our health education programme focussing on relationship and sexuality education. We will be having an information evening about this in week 2 on Tuesday at 5.30. We will give out information about the content of the programme which is produced by the New Zealand Family Planning Association. We will continue to update you about the content of the course before it is taught. Part of the learning for year 2s will be naming body parts, while the year 3s discuss changes as bodies grow, with a very brief explanation on how a baby is made. You can choose to withdraw from this lesson but need to write to the principal to do so. I would encourage you to come to the meeting about the programme first or email Amanda with any wonderings.
We are also looking forward to a science and environment based enquiry about the oceans.
Lastly we will be having student led conferences where the children get to show you some of the work they have been doing in class.
Have a safe and happy winter break!
Ngā mihi,
Pounamu Teachers.
NZ Playhouse - The Emperor's New Clothes
We are looking forward to having NZ Playhouse come to the school at the end of the first week next term to perform their Emperor's New Clothes play for the whole school. The tamariki thoroughly enjoy these shows, which allow us to bring the experience of the theatre to the children.
The Emperor's New Clothes performs on Wednesday 27 July at 11.45. The cost per student is $6.00 per person. Please pay via Kindo, internet banking or EftPos at the office.
Covid - Orange level expectations
We are able to have syndicate assemblies inside.
