MYP update of the week
Ms. Fontana had a great time meeting parents at the PTO and talking to them about MYP at Ramsey. Thanks for all of the great questions and discussion.
As we approach the end of second quarter, this is a great time for students to pause and reflect on their successes so far this year and to try to make a plan to finish the quarter so that students can stay balanced when multiple classes often have culminating summative assessments in the same week.
This week at Ramsey
In Ms. Fontana's ELA Workshop 7, students are almost done writing the rough draft of their short stories. Next week we'll revise their drafts.
A note from our PTO and Parent Volunteers
This past Thursday we had productive and positive SCIT and PTO meetings. SCIT focused on trauma in students lives. We heard great examples of how Ramsey staff works together to help kids in need. After a wonderful catered meal( thank you Ramsey!) we started PTO off with our guest speaker Ms. Fontana, who is our MYP IB coordinator. We learned how the IB program is at work in our students' classrooms every day, expanding their minds globally and thinking critically, and how the grading rubric works. Thank you, Ms. Fontana!
A word on Fundraising- please consider a direct donation to our PTO. Please refer to the weekly email home for our 2016-2017 budget and fundraising goal. Last night the PTO approved funds requested by Mr. Sahli on behalf of the student council. Student council started just last year and we heard what a success it has been so far with students feeling represented with voices being heard. But, they have zero budget and requested $ for t-shirts for the 30 members and seed money to sell snacks at the Grand Meander in early December so they can start to grow a budget. The money was approved unanimously. These are the efforts the PTO wants to support and we need all of your help to make that happen!
Please come if you can to our next meeting on Thursday,Nov 17!
Ollie Mohammed and Ann Malm, co-presidents of the PTO

Support the science department - Science dept could use some vinegar, baking soda, dry yeast. Also, looking for someone who wants to tinker and repair some triple beam balances.
SPPS Bus App - Hey parents, check out the MYSPPS app at your play store and download on your phone or tablet. It is a great app for all access points - BUS information, Campus parent portal, Lunch Menus, Newsfeeds and more. Check it out here!
Reminder to our parents/guardians - Phone calls to students during the day really should be emergencies purposes only. The office staff can and will take messages and deliver them to your student if you need to get a message to them or have them to call you back. This is just an effort to not interrupt your students class time.
