August 20, 2021
McMillen Students and Families,
We have had a wonderful kick off to the 2021-2022 school year and hope that every student is excited to be back on campus as we work to have an amazing and safe year!
In order to make sure that our students, families and staff are all up to speed with current information, please review the important information below:
Dress Code:
Teachers reviewed the Dress Code Expectations (click here) with students on Friday, August 20th. Faculty will begin enforcing Dress Code on Monday, August 23rd. Students in violation of dress code will be expected to correct their attire immediately – using a change of clothes provide by the school or parent/guardian. Dress code infractions do accumulate and can result in disciplinary action.
Chromebooks:
Students are responsible for taking care of the Chromebook that has been assigned to them. McMillen High School will not exchange Chromebooks for broken cases or hardware, cracked screens, spillage or water damage of any kind. Students should report to the front office with a parent/guardian to pay for the damaged Chromebook in order to receive a replacement device.
Building Visitors:
Visitors will be required to complete a health screener prior to entering the building. These are located in the front foyer (in English and Spanish); pens are also available. Sanitizer is also available along with paper towels for opening doors.
Dropping-Off Items to Students:
Please leave all items for students in the cubbies in the foyer (to your left when entering). All items should be labeled with the student name and ID number. You should contact your child to inform them that something has been left for them, to pick-up. Money and/or electronics should be left with a staff member at the front desk.
Early Dismissal / Parent-Pick Up:
If your student needs to be dismissed early for appointments, instruct them to report to the front office to pick up a pass; this allows them to be in the office when you arrive. Before you arrive – please complete the MHS Check-Out Information by clicking here. At the time of their appointment, please have your driver’s license/ some form of identification ready for the front office staff. Students will only be released to individuals listed on their Emergency Contact Card in ParentPortal.
Eastside Tailgate:
There will be an East Side Tailgate on Friday, September 3rd, from 5:30pm-6:45 pm. This event will be followed by the PESH football game. The tailgate will be located in the McMillen parking lot, adjacent to Kimbrough Stadium. There will be food trucks, clubs and organizations booths, games, and music! Students will also be able to buy eastside merchandise!
Sincerely,
McMillen High School
