Week 5

WOW! Can you believe we are nearing the end of the first quarter already?! I want to encourage you to keep up the good work. As we move through the new grammar, it can become increasingly difficult to review all previous weeks. Just 15-20 minutes of review each day will help your students tremendously. You may find it helpful to change up your review schedule. For example, you can review 2 or 3 weeks of memory work from all subjects, or you can chose one subject and review all previous weeks for that subject. Keep it fun. Keep it simple. And delight in the discovery of new things while enjoying the journey with your children.

Family Presentation

This week's family presentation will be brought to us by the Ballard family, followed by the Stephenson family next week. Please remember that your family's shared cleaning responsibility will coincide with the week of your scheduled presentation.

Nichols Family Blessing Basket & Prayer Request

Matt & Kami Nichols welcomed their newest addition, sweet baby Adeline, last Monday. We are so excited for them and want to share in their joy! There will be a pink basket in the church lobby for those who would like to shower them with little blessing to welcome Adeline. A few ideas are

  • wipes,
  • diapers size 2+
  • notes, cards, or pictures from your students
  • gift cards
  • baby girl outfits, etc.

As some of you may know, Kami was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this month. She is scheduled to begin chemotherapy treatments and will require surgery in the future. Please cover the Nichols family in prayer over the coming weeks & months as they brace themselves against yet another of life's storms. We do not know why these things are allowed to happen, only that the Lord told us we would have trouble in this world, but to take heart for He has overcome the world. (John16:33). As we lift our sister in Christ up in prayer, let us remember that the painful trials of this life are great opportunities to fulfill the law of Christ by bearing each other's burdens (Gal. 6:2) as we endure the fiery trials that are designed to reveal God's glory (1Peter 4:12-13).

Stepp Family

Pastor Keith Stepp of Sacred Fire Ministries, passed away last week. I have had a few requests of how we can show our love & support for the families that attend Sacred Fire. The church has asked those wishing to honor Keith to please consider a love offering. Pastor Keith was well known for his optimism and for greeting people with the phrase, "Oh! Happy Day!" Sacred Fire Ministries is honoring the life of their pastor by constructing a new play area called "Oh! Happy Day, Let's Play" for the children whom they minister to. A card from our community will be available in the lobby this Wednesday; I would love for each family to sign it. If you feel led to give an offering, you may place that in the envelope as well. I am honored to be part of a such a giving community of families who have expressed a desire to show love to those they may not even know. Thank you!

Fundraiser Cards

Don't forget to pick up your fundraiser cards! These coupon cards offer lots of great deals at local businesses (Buy 1 Get 1 at Subway, Free appetizer at Mojo's, Tony's Sushi discount,..)and are a great value at just $10 per card. Our community gets to keep $5 for each one sold. The funds raised will be used for quarterly parties, End of Year Celebration, Faces of History, etc... There are still several families that have not signed out their cards yet. Please don't forget to pick them up this week.
