One Team, One Dream!
2021-22 is in the books! Thank you for a great year! Although the school year began with some uncertainty and anxiety, our students, teachers, staff, and parents rose above all the obstacles that came our way and powered through to the end. Daily Elementary is an amazing community of people and I am truly honored to be a part of it!
This summer, be sure to spend time with loved ones, play at the park, travel, or learn a new hobby! Squeeze in some learning time - read good books, write about your summer adventures, and practice those math facts (see the article below about Imagine Literacy and Imagine Math - shameless plug, I know)! Keep our skills sharp so we are ready to go for the fall!
Congratulations to all our 5th grade graduates! We will miss you! GO FORTH and CONQUER!! You've been equipped with all the tools you need to be successful in whatever you put your mind to!
HAVE A GREAT SUMMER Y'ALL!
HISD Calendar 2022-23
As you make plans for next year, please be sure to refer to the HISD Calendar for the 2022-2023 academic year. As a reminder, students MUST be present on the first day of school, August 22, at 7:30 am to secure their spot at Daily Elementary.
Last Day of School - June 7
The students' last day of school to close out this year is Tuesday, June 7. Students must be in attendance through this date to receive an end of year report card showing promotion status for next school year.
Kindergarten Graduation Parade and Picnic
Our kindergarteners will be celebrating this milestone with a graduation parade and picnic! 1st – 5th Grade students and teachers will be watching the parade from the inside of the carpool lane closest to the building, so kindergarten parents must remain in the areas designated as Parent Viewing Areas until the end of the parade (please see diagram below).
At the end of the parade, classes will be lined up outside the playground fence to sing a song for parents. Parents viewing the parade along the parade route may follow behind the last class of the parade so all parents will end at the location to watch all classes perform a song. After the song, teachers will lead parents to their respective picnic locations (see K Picnic Area diagram).
Parking lots will be closed off from 8:45 – 9:20 am. We highly recommend for any parents and family members within walking distance to Daily to walk to school for the parade/picnic. We will be having several end-of-year activities throughout the day so parking will be limited. If you are driving, please be courteous of our neighbors and DO NOT block any driveways or major thoroughfares. Thank you!
5th Grade Graduation Ceremony
On June 7, 5th grade classes will have a graduation ceremony in the gym.
- 10:00 am - Ms. So and Ms. Jaimes' graduation ceremony
- 11:00 am - Ms. Sarreal, Ms. Khemka, and Ms. Silus' graduation ceremony
All parents attending the ceremonies will enter and exit from the outside gym door (on the west side of the building). Since parents will not be checked in through the front office, all parents must remain in the gym at all times and will not be allowed to travel anywhere else inside the building.
Title 1, Part A Parent and Family Engagement Survey
Thank you to the 78 parents who have already taken the time to complete the 2021–2022, HISD Title I, Part A Parent and Family Engagement Survey. If you haven't already completed it, the deadline has been extended until this Friday, June 3. The purpose of this annual survey is to see how well your child’s school partners with you and encourages your family’s engagement in your child’s education. The survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete. Your feedback is anonymous. For your voice to be heard, you must submit this survey on or before June 3 for your child’s school. If you need assistance in completing this survey, please reach out to the Title I campus contact person at your child's school (Ms. Steward at arodri30@houstonisd.org).
Please remember: If all your children attend the same school, you only have to complete one survey. If you have children that attend different schools, you must complete a new survey for each different school.

Early Pickups
If you need to pick up your child early from school for a doctor or dentist appointment, be sure to check them out of school through the front office BEFORE 2:00 pm. Please do not come after 2:00 pm to pick up your child early from school. To ensure a safe dismissal, students will not be called to the office to be picked up after 2:00 p.m. since we are preparing for dismissal and do not have staff members available to get the students from recess, etc. We need all staff members in order to conduct dismissal. Thank you for helping to make dismissal safe for all our students.
Cell Phone Policy
The second time it occurs, the phone will be confiscated and the parent has to come to the school to pick it up. The third and any subsequent incidents will result in the parent coming to school to pick it up AND a $15 fine each time.
