Swansboro High School
Weekly Updates - November 27, 2022
We hope that you and your families enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday. We are looking forward to students returning tomorrow. The three weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas promise to be filled with exciting opportunities for students. Congratulations today to our winter sporting teams who have kicked off their seasons with victories. Our wrestlers placed 1st in the Dirty Bird Invitational on Wednesday and both our JV ladies and men's teams won their games at Pamlico. First place winners in wrestling includes Hyuga Doreus, Sean Kelly, Theo Yager, Klint Rhude, Mason Cooper, and Tyler Cowell. Brayden Cline brought home a 2nd place win while Kordyn Su, Aiden Russell, Adyen Goodman and Seamus Sullivan all placed 3rd.
This week at Swansboro High School will include ACT Workkeys testing for seniors, report cards on Friday, the Powder Puff football game and our Drama Club production of A Christmas Carol. Sophomores will receive their Pre-ACT score reports on Monday during homeroom. Please review these reports with your students. The Powder Puff football game is on Friday at 6:30 pm and the cost for spectators is $5.00. Signups to play/cheer will be held during all lunches this week. A Christmas Carol will be offered on Friday and Saturday at 7:00 pm and on Sunday at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $7.00 in advance or $10.00 at the door.
This will also be a busy week in athletics. Our basketball teams will travel to West Craven on Tuesday evening. Indoor track will host their meet at home while wrestling travels to Pender and swim to New Bern on Wednesday. Basketball will travel to Southwest while ladies wrestling hosts Havelock and Camp Lejeune on Thursday. Wrestling will compete at New Bern on Friday and Saturday while swim travels to Washington and our cheer team competes at the state competition on Saturday.
Looking ahead a week, we will offer the ASVAB to students who are interested in participating on December 8, 2022 and a blood drive on December 9, 2022.
Each December, the Swansboro High School Rho Kappa club partners with Wreaths Across America to place wreaths honoring our fallen heroes at the Coastal Carolina Veterans Cemetery. Today is the last day to make a contribution. See the flyer in our weekly newsletter to sponsor a wreath.
