Counselor's Corner
Hello LVES Families! Would you or someone you know like to be a mentor for a young child? A mentor is a caring, compassionate adult who chooses to devote time to a young person, offering them support, guidance, and encouragement. If you can volunteer 30 minutes to an hour per week, you can change a life by helping a child build a solid foundation of values, establish goals, improve their academic and life skills, while developing their self-esteem and confidence. This could include having lunch with them, reading a book with them, playing a game, or just talking. If you would like more information, please go to our LVISD website and look for the “Partners in Education Mentoring Program” page (http://www.lagovistaisd.net/page/curr.ins_Mentor), or contact me at amy_sexton@lagovista.txed.net, (512) 267-8300 ext. 4504. Does your child need a coat? The 2018 Free Coats for Kids Distribution Day is on Saturday, December 8 from 8:00 am-3:00 pm at the Palmer Events Center in Austin, 900 Barton Springs Road. For more information, go to: www.jlaustin.org/coats. Thank you and stay warm! Gracias y mantente abrigado! :) Amy Sexton
