Cabrillo Point Academy Testimonial by Mohd Taji
Hello, my name is Mohd Taji, and I am a Cabrillo Academy high school graduate this semester.
I would like to briefly walk you through journey with Cabrillo throughout my high school years and what I have learned and achieved. I have always had the tendency of challenging myself and testing my limits in different aspects and fields. I initially began on my journey with Cabrillo in 7th grade with my HST Miss Tracy Cecola and was intrigued with the concept of homeschooling and was quite new to it all. My HST was very cooperative and provided me with all the info we needed in which we decided to begin the program.
What really helped me in the program was the flexibility allowed by the program and curriculum, which helped focus on my endeavors and dreams. So by the time I reached high school I was quite familiar with the system, but not with high school itself. As I had mentioned I always like to challenge myself in which I thought of the idea that I would like to graduate high school in two years instead of four. I had consulted this idea with my HST in which she was very receptive, cooperative, and encouraging but she still warned me and my parents that finishing in two years was going to be extremely difficult and stressful. She had also informed us that this would be something very new, was untried and experimental. So after a lot of pondering, I committed to the plan and started to take at least twelve courses per semester to meet the A-G grad requirement, in which I had also aimed to maintain a high GPA and try to get A’s in all my classes. Fortunately I was able to handle the work load properly for which I came up with the idea that I wanted to make a world records the youngest pilot to solo. I always had a passion for aviation and had started aviation college from the age of thirteen and gotten a 4.0 gpa for the pilot classes I took which were meant for “Real Pilots."
So while simultaneously handling my schoolwork, college, flight training, and world record preparation, I headed to Canada to complete the record, because the age to solo an aircraft in the US is 16 and in Canada is 14. So after rigorous training and check rides one fine day I was able to make the world record. That accomplishment really boosted my morale and vigor to do more as it gave the courage to go even further. After coming back I started to plan again for my next record attempt , in which I would like to thank my HST once again for making I was staying on track while completing these hectic activities. Once again I returned to Canada with even a more challenging world record which was the youngest pilot to solo cross country 150 nautical miles , in which a portion of that flight had to completed over the ocean. After a lot of planning and hard work thankfully once again I was able to successfully complete the world record .
Finally after returning I went busy again submitting all my work to meet the deadlines and was able to get A’s in almost all the 48 courses I took in a period of four semesters. Completing high school in this amount of time has been one of the most satisfying achievements I have ever made as has helped me evolve and change in a positive way as a human being.
In conclusion my time in high school has been a tremendous journey and experience in which I will value all my life , and will help me in different aspects of my career . None of this would have not been possible without my teachers, counselors, HST, and of course Cabrillo. I would like to thank everybody for helping me make my dreams into reality, supporting and encouraging me throughout this rollercoaster of a ride. As I will mention once again It is thanks to Cabrillo for giving the opportunity to prove myself and explore my talents in ways that I had never imagined ever.

50 Quick and Easy Ways to Connect with Your Kids
You’ve been running since early in the morning. Meals, lessons, chores, clean up, calls, and more meals…
You’ve spent the entire day with your kiddos, but as you take some much-deserved time to relax on the couch while the littles are tucked into their beds (finally!) for the night, you realize that you haven’t actually spent time with any of them over the course of the busy day.
Sure… you were in the same room as your kids.
But the connection and relationship-building you know is so important to their healthy development has been put on the back burner again.
You’re not alone.
It’s easy to get caught up in the daily life-ness that happens all around you as you homeschool and parent your kiddos. It’s also easy to give in and let the guilt take over.
Us homeschool mamas are really great at proving to ourselves how terrible we really are at this whole thing, right?
Connecting with your kids in little ways throughout the day doesn’t have to be time-consuming though, and it’s a great way to build their resilience and foster strong emotional intelligence. Instead of overwhelming yourself with the idea that you need to do something big to connect throughout each day, try slipping small connections in the spaces of each day.
These are little, intentional acts that remind your kiddos you love them and they’re super important to you.
