If you have specific educational concerns for your child, please put this information in writing and send it to the office addressed to Mrs. Bookman. Please include learning environments that may work well for your child. Please do not request specific teachers as these will not be accepted or considered. We as a staff take great care in placing students in an appropriate learning environment that will best meet their needs. We try to create heterogeneous classes with a balance of genders and student needs. We use a system that is research-based and is proven to promote the most growth for all students. In order to have your concerns addressed, all letters must be received in the office no later than Monday, April 18, 2022. Any notification after this date will not be accepted.

Counselor's Corner- A Note From Miss Livers
The internet and technology have become such a wonderful tool for schools, businesses, and families, especially right now with the pandemic. But it also has its negatives as well, especially for our students. We want to bring awareness about the dangers of overuse of technology as well as dangerous websites and apps that kids should not be on. Setting boundaries and expectations, having open discussions about technology and safety with your students are important. The more you have an open dialogue with your students about technology, the more they will be willing to confide in you and come to you if there is a problem.
Here are some tips for setting those expectations: When developing a plan for technology use, consider your child’s input. Although you are the parent and ultimately are the one to set and enforce expectations, getting input from your child can help them to feel valued in the process. A great way to do this is to create a technology plan or contract that you both contribute to. When talking about expectations for technology, it is important again to involve your child. Ask your child what he/she thinks the consequences of misuse should be. Establishing these expectations ahead of time will allow for fewer arguments and misunderstandings if/when something does happen.

Birthday Treats-MUST be prepackaged, ONLY
At this time, we will allow Birthday Treats to be brought to school. We are required to inform you of the Healthy Eating Guidelines (see below) and suggest that you use this when selecting a treat. Whatever you choose, please note that all treats brought to school for the purpose of sharing with others, need to be prepackaged so we are able to know and see the ingredients list. There are many students who have a variety of food allergies and having the ingredients listed helps the school nurse determine if a student with allergies can eat a particular treat.

Lunch Visitor Update
As we near the end of the school year and things seem to remain stable with all things COVID related, we are going to attempt to resume more “normalcy” for our students. Beginning the week after Spring Break, we will allow a limited number of parents to join students for lunch. Below you will find a link to sign up for a time slot. There will be 5 slots available per grade level, per school day. Due to limited seating, only one person per student may sign up. To be fair to other parents, please do not sign up for more than one slot.
Once we have a chance to evaluate the seating with the additional parents, we will consider increasing the number of parents permitted to come in each day. We thank you for your understanding and cooperation and look forward to seeing you in the building soon!

Each class will have an assigned time and will participate in these specials in a rotating sequence. One huge benefit will be that no special will regularly be missed because of school holidays.
