New Google Drive Interface Coming to Town

Not only is Santa Coming to Town so is the new Google Drive interface. Bedford will be switching all users to the new interface during Christmas Break so that everyone is working in and using the same format. As reported in our September newsletter Google made some interface changes to Drive last summer. Since that time Google has allowed users to switch between the old and new interface by going to Drive settings (gear icon in drive) and choosing "Experience the New Drive" or "Leave the New Drive." Here are some resources to help you make the shift.

If you need to schedule individual help please make an appointment and Jennifer or Kim will meet with you.

Moby Max Unlimited Accounts for BPS

Each teacher and student at BPS now has the ability to use the paid subscription for MobyMax. Moby Max is designed for K-8 students however many schools use it with high school special education and at risk students. MobyMax can be used to differentiate and enhance curriculum for each student. Placement tests in math and ELA determine a student's level and students practice skills to fill in the missing gaps in their understanding of core concepts. MobyMax will also be adding Social Studies and Science content in the spring.

Teachers can create accounts with their mybedford email address to join the paid subscription. Elementary homeroom teachers should create student accounts making sure that the student username is unique to the student. The student username should not reflect the current teacher's name so that students can be promoted to the next grade and retain their established username with their accumulated progress following them to subsequent grade levels.

Students should not have multiple MobyMax accounts for separate teachers otherwise their accumulated data and progress will not be accurate. Once homeroom teachers create their student accounts they then "share" those students with other teachers so students are working within a single account.

A standard protocol is being established at the JHS for teachers and students with existing accounts in order to streamline and correct multiple accounts that have been created for students.

Discovery Student Logins

With the recent addition of student accounts for Discovery Education we have identified some students with a duplicate username within the Discovery Education database. Discovery stores all users in a national database instead of making them specific to our district. If students encounter a problem logging in with their standard login ( first name .(dot) last name with student # as the password) then contact the helpdesk so we can make modifications to their username.

A Few New Voices on the Help Desk

If you call the help desk you maybe surprised with a few new voices answering your call. Tech assistants Trish Gentil, Tina Mortemore, and Yvonne Sargent have been learning the ropes in manning our busy help desk. Cross training several people to work the help desk will ensure that when Denise Williams, our resident help desk operator, must be off or needs extra assistance during peak times, our department will be better prepared to support you.
