10/19/2018- Your Weekly Update for Mayfield Intermediate
Red Ribbon Week
Dear Mayfield Family,
Next week, October 22-26, we will participate in the annual Red Ribbon Week Celebration, as well as Mix It Up Day! We will be showcasing a week of Drug Awareness and Prevention for our 5th and 6th graders by showing our unity as a school against drugs. On Tuesday we will also be encouraging students to make new friends during lunch by participating in the national Mix It Up Day (details below). We would love your participation and support for each of our daily themes!
Monday- "Wear Red Day" wear red to kick off Red Ribbon Week
Tuesday- "Team Up Against Drugs!" wear your favorite sports team clothing.
Mix It Up Day: During lunch on Tuesday, students will be encouraged to get to know new people by sitting by birth month in the cafeteria (tables will be clearly marked). The students will still sit on their respective side of the cafeteria in order to avoid recess time confusion. Students will have dice to roll that correspond with questions they can ask each other to spark conversation, but teachers are highly encouraged to come and sit with students to help model and facilitate this process! It will be a fun day to build relationships in a relaxed environment. If you would like more information about National Mix It Up Day, visit https://www.tolerance.org/mix-it-up or https://youtu.be/T2FPtcm1QeQ
Wednesday- National "Unity Day,” wear orange. http://www.pacer.org/bullying/nbpm/unity-day.asp
Thursday- "Too Smart to Start" wear College or Mayfield gear.
Friday- "We CAN be drug free!”- bring in a canned food item to donate to Operation Turkey.
