Strengths Spotlight

Our Fourth and Fifth Grade students have a special program to learn what their strengths are as an individual and how they can be used to support themselves in life as well as those around them. As a staff, we have similar information used in Gallup's StrengthsFinder and try to incorporate that into different areas of our time together as staff. Mrs. Gow, our counselor, has created a Strengths Spotlight in order to recognize individual teachers and grade levels throughout the year. This week we highlighted Mrs. Woodfin (Kindergarten) and Mrs. Alexander (2nd Grade).

Dismissal for Walkers

Thank you again for all your help with our arrival and dismissal process. Our students are arriving to school on time and getting home safely.

We would like to remind parents who are parking at the entrance of Madison and Jupiter, that those areas are a no parking zone. We encourage parents who are driving to meet their walkers, that you do so at the park where there is more parking. Thank you for helping us to be good neighbors to those who live in the Madison and Jupiter neighborhoods.

EXPO Information Meeting - Tuesday, September 24th

This meeting is for parents who are interested in learning more about the EXPO program and want more information. Topics to be discussed include: What is EXPO? What is there referral process? How do I properly complete the forms? And, many more!

The meeting will be held in the Blanton Library from 5:30-6:30.

We encourage you to visit Mrs. Turner's website for more information. Parent packets are also available on campus across from the library.

Volunteers

We love to have volunteers! Opportunities exist throughout the school year to volunteer from individual classroom needs to school-wide support. In order to volunteer in any capacity (including Watch DOGS) you must fill out the background check information every school year. If you did so for the 2018-2019 school year (or any previous school year) you must still fill out an application for the 2019-2020 school year.

The application can be found at www.dentonisd.org/volunteer.

Grandparent's Day - Thursday, September 12th

We can hardly wait to meet our students' grandparents at the breakfast on September 12th in their honor! Grandparents are special people in a child's life and have a significant impact on their well-being.

Students and their grandparents will have breakfast in the cafeteria beginning at 7:00 a.m. When they are finished they are able to go look at books in the Book Fair which is also that week. Grandparents are welcome to walk their grandchildren to class on this day beginning at 7:30 to say their goodbyes.

RSVP for Breakfast with Grandparents is now open on the PTA website. The event will be on Thursday, September 12 at 7:00 AM. Be sure to RSVP for any grandparents and students that will be attending so we will have enough food.

Lunch with your Child

As the year progress, we hope you have the opportunity to have lunch with your child. We ask when you are able to come eat lunch, you do so with just your child at the designated tables on the stage. Although other students may want to join along, please, eat lunch with just your child.

Parent Connection

We recognize the value of parent input and open dialogue with our student's parents. Our focus in each of our Parent Connection meetings is to better communicate our vision and action of supporting and growing your child while they are with us as a Blanton Knight. We invite you to be a part of our conversation and build our bridge of communication from school to home.

Please visit our Parent Connection site to learn about the topics and dates for our first semester. We are hopeful that as many as possible will attend.

Spirit Wear

Today (Friday, Aug. 30) is the last day to purchase Spirit Wear online! T-shirts and hats for parents and students are on sale at blantonpta.org. We have some fun Spirit Wear contests starting in October so stock up today if you need more Blanton gear! Orders will be delivered in mid-September.

Visit blantonpta.org often to get all the latest information on what’s going on with Blanton PTA!
