Walt's Biography

Child Hood-

Walt Disney was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 5, 1901 and died on December 15, 1966. At a young age he was very entrepreneurial. He would walk around and sell news papers, and he would sell soda with a friend. His father would make him and his brother get up at 4:30 and work. They would then trudge to school and come back to do more work. Walt never got good grades in school and he was often held back. He was so tired every day from working dawn to dusk that he would often fall asleep in class. Some say he had ADHD too, but it was never proven.

Adult Hood-

When he was in 7th grade he graduated and went on his own. He couldn't keep his job because he would end up eating the merchandise he needed to sell and he would be in debt. His boss said he would "Never have a knack for business." Walt eventually went home with his parents and got enrolled in an art school. He would create and give many cartoons to the school for their magazine. He was a self taught artist. He never had a real art class other than the child hood school art classes. Since this wasn't enough money, he worked many other jobs too. He worked in a factory and a post office. He even tried to join the army but was rejected. He then lied about his age and joined the American Ambulance Corps, but couldn't do anything due to him being sick from the flu epidemic. He was shipped off to France even though the war had ended and there he started to sell caricatures and cartoons. He even tried to give his cartoons to magazines but was rejected. Many times. He eventually found an animation job back in America but was laid off after a month. He then decided to create his own business. It was a successful animation business, and he took many years to create Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs which made millions. He never gave up on his dreams despite all the people who said he was a failure. He kept working harder and forced more work upon him to be more successful then ever.
