Lake Olympia Middle School
Lake Olympia Middle School was the eighth middle school opened by the fast growing Fort Bend ISD in 1992. With 187,800 square feet of space, the school opened with an enrollment of 600 students. The campus was designed around a central "main street" concept. Level one includes a common area core which houses the administrative offices, the library, food service, the commons and stage, two gymnasiums equipped with locker rooms, special education, art, industrial technology and computer labs. The eighth grade and some 7th grade classes and a science wing are located downstairs. Upstairs is home to the sixth grade, a Spanish classroom, and 3 computer labs. The school's other features include a weight room, football field, 3 softball fields, four tennis courts and the KRAL-TV studio. The school's mascot is the Mustang and the school colors are Columbia blue and white.

2015 State Accountability Rating
Lake Olympia received a MET STANDARD accountability rating by the Texas Education Agency. Lake Olympia increased its accountability index scores in the areas of:

Lake Olympia improved from Acceptable rating in 2014 to Recognized rating in 2015.
SIM - Strategic Instruction Model
Lake Olympia Middle School is a SIM ( Strategic Instruction Model) campus. The SIM curriculum provides a variety of learning strategies.
Understanding and solving problems with SIM Learning Strategies
Each SIM Learning Strategy targets a specific skill students need to master to succeed in school--from late elementary through college or university--and in their careers
- Learn how to learn: how to paraphrase critical information, picture information to aid in understanding and remembering, ask questions and make predictions while reading different kinds of texts, and identify unknown words in reading assignments.
- Prepare for tests: develop mnemonics and other devices to help memorize facts and learn new vocabulary.
- Express ideas and demonstrate knowledge: write sentences, paragraphs, and themes; monitor written work for errors; and confidently take tests.

Art
Students will learn to identify some of the more popular art movements and produce pieces that reflect the styles of time periods. Students will also learn fundamental art vocabulary and concepts involved in creating art.
Programs and Events : Empty Bowls, Fort Bend County Fair Day, Houston Livestock Rodeo, VASE, Campus Exhibits, and District Exhibits.
Awards - 1st and 2nd place for Rodeo Art, Bus Safety,and Fort Bend County Fair.

Choir
Choir students will learn about music literacy through performance, choral techniques, music theory, sight-reading, music history, and creative expresion.
Programs and Events : Fall, Winter, and Spring Concert, Fort Bend Choir Festival, UIL Concert and Sight Reading Competition, Solo/Ensemble Region Choir
Awards: Ft. Bend Choir Festival, Region Choir Winners,
Superior Ratings Solo/Ensemble, and UIL.

Theatre Arts
Theatre Arts focus on developing skills that will allow students to be able to perform in front of an audience. Students will learn about the basic understanding of theatre components that are essential for every theatre student to learn.
Programs and Events: UIL Competitons, Speech Tournaments, School Plays, Short Skits, and Lip-Sync Battle
Awards: Best Actor, All- Star Cast, Honorable Mention, Best Backstage Crew, Best Lights, Best Ensemble, Excellence in Performance, Superior Performance, and Advancing Play to District.

Band
Opportunity for students to learn how to play an instrument. Students are required to attend before or after school practice sessions and for some instruments students must provide or rent. Students are also expected to complete weekly practice cards and performance test. It is important that you practice weekly.
Programs and Events: UIL Competitions, Fall and Spring Band Program, Holiday Program, and off campus events.

Orchestra
Orchestra provides an opportunity for students to develop leadership, problem solving , and time management skills while learning a new instrument. It gives students an avenue through which they can positively express themselves.

KickStart Physical Education
The KickStart program is dedicated to giving middle school students the tools and support necessary to resolve conflicts, avoid participating in gangs, choose a drug-free lifestyle, resist negative peer pressure, and remain in school until they graduate. Students in the program achieve a higher level of academic success and ultimately become more productive members of their communities.
Students may select 6th grade physical education or the KICKSTART program.
