Music Programs at Hillside
Hello Hillside Families!
Hillside will have a new music performance format this year! Instead of our traditional grade-level pairings, we will be pairing as follows:
October 10th - 4th and 5th Grade
December 5th - 2nd and 3rd Grade
February 24th - Kindergarten and 1st Grade
TBA - 6th Grade Informance
I am making this change for many substantial reasons. The kindergarteners will have some experienced students performing alongside them, and the sixth graders, who are experienced performers, will be giving the audience a more “information-based” performance. Like other programs you have seen in the past, these will be active, engaging, rigorous and entertaining! They will also focus their learning this year towards the District Vocal Music Festival in March. This Festival is an all-district event, and has been built on a strong tradition of vocal music in Westside 66. It will give these sixth graders a preview of all the exciting choral opportunities to come, and we are looking forward to seeing all 6th grade families in attendance! A date will be announced within the next couple of months!
Thank you all for your continued support of Hillside’s vocal/general music program! Please put these dates on your calendar, and we will see you all soon!

Parents/Guardians:
We continue to ask for your help ensuring elementary and middle school students have parent accompaniment and supervision at Varsity sporting events, specifically football games. In years past, safety concerns have developed regarding unsupervised, younger students at these events, especially when they loiter in the parking lot, in the dark, more than 30 minutes after the game. In addition: no footballs or backpacks can be brought into the games.
Whether home or away, please plan for a parent to accompany your child if they want to attend a game. Thank you for your help!
