Jerry Ross kids explore COLLEGES and CAREERS
From Ms. Linsley
Between the S.P.A.C.E. advocacy team meetings, special dress up days, and Careers on Wheels event, it has been an action packed week.
We played college fight songs on the announcements every morning and shared fun facts about college, my favorite highlighting how yummy dorm food can be. Anyone else remember the freshman 15?
I gave treats to students who wore the best college gear, from Butler of course, but I only gave out 3 pieces all day, and one was to Mrs. Midkiff who switched to a Purdue shirt later in the morning. Purdue was hands down the most popular choice among students and staff, by the way.
A special shout out to all the parents who helped by bringing various work vehicles to Jerry Ross yesterday for our own variety of Touch A Truck, Careers on Wheels. We had emergency vehicles, construction machines, farm equipment, and an 18 wheeler.
I officially apologize to all of our neighbors for the noise; the students loved honking the horns! I also want to thank the Zaronias family for donating delicious pizzas and Costco for donating cookies for all of our volunteers who brought the trucks and vehicles.
Mrs. Maynor, our school counselor, arranged this purposeful week of activities to help our children start thinking about their gifts, talents, and preferences. Colonel Jerry Ross decided he wanted to be an astronaut when he was in the 4th grade and is coming to our school in a few weeks! We are so fortunate to have our namesake visit and interact with our children.
He's the ultimate role model in being fit for S.P.A.C.E.
Thank you for always supporting our school. Enjoy the pictures and have a nice weekend!

Important Reminders for Parents
- During drop off in the morning, parents should only use the inner lane closest to the school building. The doors open at 8:50 a.m., but we have adult supervision at the door by 8:45 or earlier every day.
- If you need to pick up your child from school early, you may call the office to let us know. However, we do not pull students out of class until the parent arrives. This prevents students from missing additional minutes of instruction and sitting in the office waiting. If your child and the teacher know your child is leaving early, it should take less than two minutes for your child to come to the office.
- Parents are allowed to have lunch with their children in the cafeteria if they have filled out a background check. Also, no outside restaurant food, such as McDonald's or Pizza Hut, is allowed in the cafeteria.
- If you would like to purchase school ice cream for your child's homeroom class for his or her birthday, please contact Mrs. Beck in the cafeteria. We do not allow baked goods or treats for birthday celebrations due to severe food allergies.
