Message From The Principal
This week marks the official end of the 1st semester. Our teachers used today's teacher workday to wrap up the 1st semester and prepare for the new semester, which begins on Tuesday, January 21st. Teachers will continue to enter and finalize grades over the weekend, and first-semester report cards will be issued on Friday, January 24th.
We had another tremendously successful semester. From academic achievements (ACT & SAT recognitions, AP Honor Roll, SC State Report Card Rating of Excellent, Niche Award for Best Public High School in York County) to athletic successes (individual state champion swimmer and region championships in girls tennis, girls swim, boys cross country, and cheer) to achievements in the visual and performing arts (Fall Musical The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, chorus participation in SC Honors Choir, marching band participation at BOA Regional in Utah, and local student art exhibits) to co-curricular awards (another Emmy award for The Buzz), our students were recognized for excelling at their passions. And while awards are a great opportunity to shine a spotlight on our school and community, our focus remains on the importance of learning and the growth that comes from the challenge of rigorous coursework. I feel very lucky to work with such talented students and dedicated teachers each day.
It has been a great first semester, and I am excited by the potential of what is yet to come in 2020.

New Semester
Students will begin the 2nd semester on Tuesday, January 21st. Students will report directly to homeroom at the 8:40 am bell, where they will receive an official copy of their 2nd-semester schedule. It is important that students keep up with their new schedule as it will also contain a barcode that they will use to check out textbooks.
We will keep a watchful eye on lunches to make sure everyone has an opportunity to eat. We will also assess lunch sizes to ensure they are balanced and will make changes to which classes have A lunch or B lunch if necessary.
Students should not make class change requests at this point in the school year. Students were provided ample opportunity to make schedule change requests prior to June 5, 2019--the end of the last school year. Additionally, the counseling office worked with students prior to the start of this school year--during Conflict Resolution this past August--to address incomplete and incorrect schedules. Second-semester schedules were effectively set as of August 19th, 2019--the first day of this school year.
Miss Fort Mill High School Pageant
The pageant is sponsored by the FMHS Student Council and serves as the organization's biggest fundraiser each year. Proceeds from the pageant support events that the student council puts on for the student body throughout the year, like Fall Fling, Spring Fling, and Senior Celebration.
