Roaring 1920s

Consumer Economy
The United States wealth doubled during the roaring 20s. Our nation became a consumer economy. People from different parts of the country bought the same things. The consumer economy was a positive effect on our nation because more people started buying consumer products, and it creates more jobs for the economy. That in turn created more jobs more income for the people to be made.
Scope Trails
The Scope Trail is a trial in Tennessee about a science teacher who taught evolution, instead of teaching what he was suppose to teach which was creation. He was arrested for his teaching, and was found guilty. Than the case was repealed and he was fined. In the end he was still legally able to teach in Tennessee. The scope trial in Tennessee was a positive effect because it changed the way people taught and learned from creation to evolution. It made people more open to the way the world was created.
Entertainment
In the 1920s, young people want to wanted to dance. They wanted to dance to the Charleston, the cake walk, the black bottom, the flea hop. Jazz bands started to play music that younger people wanted to dance to, in dance halls. The people loved the freedom they felt on the dance floor. The entertainment in the 1920s was a positive because the people became more open to different types and styles of music.
19th Amendment
The 19th Amendment was a law past that allowed women the right to vote for the first time. It gave women the same rights as men. Women were fighting for the right to vote for a while now, the suffrage movement. The 19th Amendment was a positive for the United States because it made the US become more advanced, allowing women to vote. Changing the country for the better.
Prohibition / Speakeasies
In the 1920s, the 18th amendment was added to the Constitution. The 18th amendment was the banning of distributing alcohol. It forced people to go underground to get their alcohol other otherwise known as speakeasies. The 18th amendment was a negative because it didn't solve the problems that the government thought it would solve. Also it forced people to get their alcohol the illegal way, going under ground. Speakeasies were also a negative because it produced more crime.
Revival of the KKK
People in the Ku Klux Klan used their in the government to influence to the politics. Forcing the members to recruit voters who promised to support racist politics. The Klan won many mayoral election across the nations. The Ku Klux Klan was a negative in the 1920s because having a racist politics and part of the government is never a good idea, and can cause major problems. It is a step back in progress.
Flapper
A flapper is a young women who has short hair, short shirts, drank, and smoked. Even when it was against there family's wishes. The women were also sexually free. The young women also adapted a fashionable wardrobe. Women also gained the freedom like being able to vote. The flappers were a positive effect on the United States because it promoted that women were independent and could do things that men could do like vote.
