February 24th Update

We are continuing to work through Unit 6 of our math curriculum, How Many Tens? How Many Ones? We are currently working with 3-Digit Numbers. We will be looking at numbers and comparing them using greater than, less than, and equal. We will be using place value to represent and compare 3-digit numbers, write them in expanded form, as well as some story problems.

Each week we continue to introduce a new story during our 'Shared Reading' time. We are working on a variety of fiction and non-fiction texts. We are focusing quite a bit on different comprehension skills with each of these stories and making different graphic organizers including: venn-diagrams, compare/contrast, story maps, chain of events, and more! At small group reading time we are bringing the comprehension skills back to the teacher table by using the same organizers with leveled texts.

Social Studies/Writing -

We just finished up our Famous American study of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Harriet Tubman, Martin Luther King Jr., and Rosa Parks. Students have been working hard this past week on an informative writing about their favorite Famous American to show you at conferences.
