The Confederate forces of 500 soldiers surrounded Fort Sumter under command of General P.G.T. Beauregard. With 85 union solders inside under the command of Major Robert Anderson. The confederate forces fired 50 cannons on Fort Sumter over the course of 33 hours forcing the union soldiers to surrender ending the battle with no casualties on either side. The Confederates had won this battle at the cost of starting the Civil War.
