Global Studies Update
For Global Studies, we had a wonderful time celebrating Chinese New Year and learning about traditional Chinese desserts. Students learned a popular Chinese New Year song and how to say “xin nian kuai le” (happy new year) and “gong xi gong xi” (congratulations!), which are common greetings during Chinese New Year. They also learned the history of different types of traditional Chinese desserts, and watched street artists perform sugar art such as sugar painting and blowing candy. Finally they tasted Haw Candy Flakes, a snack that is made of a Chinese fruit – the haws.
Some students loved it so much that they wanted to know where they could get it. So here is the information. You can find it in Asia Mart located at 6103 E 86th St, Indianapolis, IN 46250 (Castleton Mall area). Here is a picture of the packaging.
From next week students will start Global Studies in Spanish and I am super excited for them for the new language learning experience! Once again I am so grateful to have the opportunity to teach your child Chinese in the last 3 months. I hope they will continue their love in learning different languages and the world around them.

Global Goals Project Work - We have been working on THINKING GLOBALLY WHILE ACTING LOCALLY. We worked on creating action steps and questions that need to be answered for our different projects that the students have decided on...eliminating plastic straws and utensils in the cafe, plastic recycling at TCE, creating a food drive to benefit a local food bank, and creating sustainable gardens that will benefit a local food bank.
