Little Eagle News

17th week of school December 5th to 9th

Welcome to the 2022-2023 School Year!

Only New Town Public School Staff are allowed beyond the main office unless you have an appointment with a teacher. If you have an appointment, you will have a green visitor's pass to wear, so the staff knows you are allowed to be in the building. If you need to meet with a teacher, please call the teacher and set up an appointment.

Just a reminder the weather is getting colder. Please make sure to send your children with the proper winter gear. All students go outside. The only time we do not go outside is if it is -5 or colder. Our lost and found is already full again please come in and look through it.

From this point on we are asking all non-staff members and students to remain in the front foyer of the entry way. Please be sure to press the button for the intercom to speak with one of the secretaries.

REGISTRATION PAPERS

All the papers in the student registration packet are required. We need our own physical copies of the birth certificate, immunization records, and tribal enrollment (if this form applies to your child).

School Calendar showing when we are in and out of school

Edwin Loe Elementary School is OFF Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI) status

This is excellent news for our school but what does it mean? It means all the hard work that our students have been doing to up our test scores is working. Our test scores went up significantly for our school. We are going to continue to work hard and keep our scores moving in the right direction.

Please remember that the school day runs from 8:27 AM to 3:35 PM (2:45 on Wednesdays). Every minute of your child's education is essential. Please avoid checking them out early unless it's an emergency. If you are making a transportation change for after school, please call the Elementary office before 3:00 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday and before 2:00 PM on Wednesday.

If you are checking your student out early, please get in touch with the office, not your child’s teacher. The office is not always aware of changes if only the teacher is contacted. Once you arrive at the school, your child will be called down. For safety reasons, we try to keep students in the classroom, not waiting in the office.

Flu and Covid Vaccine Clinics

When we have an updated schedule will place here. Thanks

Cell Phone Policy changed. Please read the policy, taken from the Parents Student handbook.

New Town students in grades K-8 may not have cell phones/electronic devices with data services or earbuds in classes for any reason. Cell phones must be turned into teacher-designated receptacles at the beginning of their first-class period and can be picked up at the end of each day.

Cell Phone/Electronic Devices Disciplinary Action The publication of this cell phone/electronic device regulation serves as a first (1st) warning to students for disciplinary purposes. Failure to adhere to the terms of this regulation will result in the following progressive discipline.

• First (1st) Offense - The cell phone/electronic device shall be confiscated and given to the principal for the remainder of the school day and picked up by the student at the end of the day. A discipline referral will be completed for documentation.

• Second (2nd) Offense - The cell phone/electronic device shall be confiscated and held by the principal until a parent/guardian picks up the unit in person at the end of the day. A discipline referral will be completed for documentation.

• Third (3rd) Offense - The cell phone/electronic device shall be confiscated and held by the principal and the student will be deemed insubordinate and will receive one (1) day of in-school suspension and a parent meeting with administration and the SRO. A discipline referral will be completed for documentation.

Bullying Information Below.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The school district has looked into other ways that bullying could be reported. STOPit is an app that you can get on your phone that allows you to anonymously get in touch with a school administrator to report a bullying incident. Information on how to download the app and how to use the app is attached below.

It is the belief of the New Town Public School District that every child has a safe learning environment. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s school building administration

Every night your child has homework to read for 20 minutes a night. This homework is part of our Success for All reading program.
