Abundant Life Lived
A Year in Review
2013 was another action-packed year for both Phil and I! We have been working hard (and having fun too) finishing up our last year of school. We are both set to graduate May 2014, Phil from Medical School and I from a Nurse Practitioner program.
This year has been filled with life including good conversations with dear friends, road trips to beautiful places, and of course, long hours accompanied by lots of coffee.
In the spring, Phil and I celebrated five years of marriage with a trip throughout southern Maine. Over the summer, I attended a conference on Cape Cod MA, visited a friend in Bar Harbor, ME, and even made a trip down south to see both our families!
Phil worked through the summer and took his last boards of Medical School!! In July, we were overjoyed and surprised to find out we were expecting a baby due to arrive March 2014!
This fall, Phil hit the road for three months completing away rotations in the Midwest and interviewing at OB/Gyn residencies. I stayed home in Maine taking classes and working in Family Medicine, Women's Health, and Endocrinology clinics...all the while growing a tiny human and being well-cared for by our wonderful Maine community.
For winter break, we've migrated south (just in time to miss lots of snow and ice!) where we are soaking up precious time with our families and friends throughout NC and VA. For Christmas this year, Phil and I have given each other a "babymoon" that we will take just after the new year to North Carolina's beautiful and historic coast!

Reflections
As I reflect on this year, I realize that we could not have had the successes that we've had without the love and support of our friends, family, and church. Even more so, we would be lost in this life without the love and guidance of our faithful Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus. It is in Him that we live, move and have our being!! (Act 17:28)
We look forward to 2014 with great anticipation as we enter into a new season of our lives. A new season in another region of the country. A new season of continued education as working medical professionals. A new season of being parents. A new season of practicing the greatest commandment given by Christ...
"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law? Jesus replied: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." (Matthew 22:36-40)
My prayer for us all is that these familiar words of Jesus do not loose their power and do not fail to change us daily, causing us to look ever onward in our work here on earth and ever upward towards God who gives us everything we could ever need or hope for.
Let us meditate on His word, listen to His Spirit, and "count it all Joy" this upcoming year as we will all undoubtedly face trails of many kinds.
May the Lord bless you and yours in this year to come. May you all grow in your love for God and for one another. And may you live as people of Hope...hope not in the things of this world, but hope in the promises of God!
Sincerely,
Sam, Phil, and Baby Boy Honea

Winter Retreat
Each year of medical school, Phil and I have attended a winter retreat with the greater Boston CMDA chapters at a camp in New Hampshire. This year, Phil has served as the student trustee for Christian Medical and Dental Association (CMDA). Board meeting sites include: New Hampshire, Florida, and Wisconsin! He is a busy man!
Summer Fellowship
We had several barbecues this summer with our church family in Lewiston/Auburn Maine. While our small church plant has gone through many transitions and challenges this year, we have a great hope for the city of Lewiston Maine and a true love for her people.
