Whats Pop Art?

Pop Art is a modern art movement, started in the 1950s, which uses the imagery, styles, and themes of advertising, mass media, and popular culture. Pop art was inspired by every day house hold objects, so that people could enjoy it. Sometimes people would aslo draw famous people to advertising a movie, or even a packet of crisps.

Andy Warhole

He worked as a commercial artist for magazines and also designed advertising and window displays.In the early 1960s, he began to experiment with reproductions based on advertisements, newspaper headlines and other mass-produced images from American popular culture such as Campbell's soup tins and Coca Cola bottles. In 1962, he began his series portraits of Marilyn Monroe


Roy lichtenstein


He was born in New York City in October 1923. His parents were middle-class and he described himself as having had a quiet and uneventful childhood. Though art was not taught as part of the curriculum at his high school, in his junior year he started to draw and paint as a hobby. He was also a famous artist in the 1950's and the 60's.
