Welcome to the Prairie Point Panther Press!
Principal's Letter
Prairie Point Families:
I have enjoyed seeing the way that many of our classrooms and students celebrated Halloween. Our K - 5th graders were able to celebrate yesterday in a virtual setting and a few of our early childhood students, along with the students enrolled in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program were able to celebrate here at school today! What a fun end to a great week!
EC - 5th Grade - Return to In-Person Instruction Update
You should have received an email this afternoon from our Superintendent, Dr. Sparlin. Dr. Sparlin shared that we will be delaying our return to in-person instruction for our early childhood and elementary students. While I am disappointed to learn that our students will not be returning on November 9th, I know and trust that our district leadership is making decisions in collaboration with our health department that are best for our district and our students.
Panther Fitness Challenge
I would like to thank your entire school community for a wonderfully successful, first ever, Virtual Panther Fitness Challenge. I am especially grateful for our students and families who continued to be enthusiastic and supportive of this annual event. I would also like to offer a big thank you to our amazing Home and School, along with our PE teachers, for making this virtual event possible and fun for all students!
Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent Teacher Conferences are scheduled for Monday, November 23rd and Tuesday, November 24th. Students will attend school, remotely, from 9am - 2pm. Tuesday, November 24th will be a non-attendance day for students.
Teachers will be reaching out to you within the next week to schedule conferences. Please note that all conferences will take place remotely.
I would like to thank our school community for the continued support. As always, Mrs. Fahey and I are available to answer any questions or assist in any way that we can. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us. I hope that your family remains healthy and that our students have a very Happy Halloween!
Sincerely,
Dr. Jennifer Groves
Principal

W.O.W. Week 4 Results
80 Prairie Point students braved the rather cold weather yesterday to take a walk for our last Walk On Wednesday this year. Not sure if everyone remembers, but last year, it SNOWED on our last Walk on Wednesday. Ms. Skillman’s 4th grade class had 50.0% of her students walk yesterday to earn the Golden Shoe Award for the second time this month. 2nd place goes to Mrs. Hoke’s 2nd grade class with 42.9% of her students walking and 3rd place goes to Mrs. Ricken’s 2nd grade class with 28.6% of her students taking a walk yesterday.
Congratulations to all our Students who took a Walk on Wednesday throughout the month of October!
Great Job Panthers!!

Celebrate with a Great Book!
We have some very exciting news about a new partnership with the Oswego Public Library District! This partnership has been created to give all students in SD308 access to the digital resources available through our public library. Some of our SD308 students don't live within the boundaries of the library district, so they have not had access in the past. This new partnership will give all students access to the amazing resources our public library has to offer! There are many wonderful databases and ebooks that students may use for research, homework, classwork and personal enjoyment.
Getting access to these resources is EASY! Just fill out the attached Library Google Form. (even if you already have a library card). After you complete it, Mrs. Seiple or Mrs. D will contact you with access instructions and the library card number. IT’S THAT EASY! :) The library card number will be active as soon as you receive it, and will expire on June 1, 2021. Please be sure to complete the form for every child in your household who attends Prairie Point, so that we may give each child her/his own library card number.
In the upcoming weeks, Mrs. Seiple will be showing students how to access resources during her Wednesday Go Live! sessions. She will also post videos with further directions. In the meantime, please fill out the form and start exploring the wonderful resources on your own!

Home & School - Konstella
Join us on Konstella!
Prairie Point Elementary's Home and School Board is changing from Membership Toolkit to Konstella!
Unfortunately, with everything that has been going on, your Home and School Board has decided to change our school management software again. This decision did not come lightly to us. We did not want to change to a new software again, when you just signed up for Membership Toolkit, but we needed to make a change for the better. This decision impacts our finances as well as how we manage the events. We think it will be easier for all. Please follow the link below to begin the new sign in. Thank you again for being so cooperative with us.
