Message from Mrs. Haugen
Dear Charger Families,
What a great start to the year!
Thank you families for all your support at home with preparing students for new procedures. Students arrived and have really been very receptive to our "new norm" with masks, distancing and frequent sanitizing.
The students have been AMAZING and we have been able to "jump right in!" We have been busy these first weeks focusing on connections in class, practicing our procedures, assessing student current skills, and engaging students with learning. It is wonderful to be in classroom and see that way our students and staff are working together!

What if we have to do distance learning?
IF we would have to do to alternative methods of instruction, we want to be sure families know what things will look like.
- Classroom teachers will provide instruction for students through the use of Google Classroom and related apps.
- Students will be allowed to take home chromebooks to use.
- Families will be provided a schedule for instruction times across the day for direct and small group instruction.
- We will provide instruction on new content during any closure.
- Students will have required tasks to complete online each day.
- Students will be required to log-in and connect with their teacher each day.
- Grades will be taken for work completed by students virtually.

Did You About This?
The Jefferson City School District qualifies and beginning Tuesday, September 8, 2020 will be offering school breakfast and school lunch meals at no charge to students in all school buildings until December 31, 2020 or further notice. Although school meals will be free to students, any a la carte items will still be charged to students. For example, a la carte items might include bottled water, extra milk, desserts, and second entrees.
When USDA announces that federal funding for free meals is no longer available, students will be charged for meals again.
If you feel your student will qualify for free or reduced-price meals and you have not completed an application for meals for the 2020-2021 school year, please do so. Applications for free or reduced-price meals submitted in 2019-2020 school year will expire on October 5, 2020. JC Schools Nutrition Services can process the applications and determine student eligibility now, so when the waiver expires your student’s eligibility status will be reflected. The application for free or reduced-price meals is available at: https://www.jcschools.us/Page/115.
Money in student accounts can remain in their accounts and will be there when the waiver expires and students are charged for meals again.
JC Schools will continue to offer meals of which the students are accustomed. JC Schools Nutrition Services’ goals are to provide quality, nutritious meals for all of the students of Jefferson City
Parenting Session
On September 1st, a behavior consultant that we use for professional development at Moreau Heights, lead a parent session on supporting distance learning. She talked about great ideas to create learning space and how to support their focus to do their best.
All the strategies and suggestion provided align with what we are doing with students at Moreau Heights. Check out the audio through the link below. We will share information after the next session as well!
