Message From Dr. Cole
Dear TLA Families,
We wanted to share some news with you. Our Principal, Mrs. El-Amin, will be taking a personal leave to address some family concerns. Her absence due to family care needs is temporary, and she plans to return in January after our winter break.
TLA has a very strong network of support throughout the school, and we are very fortunate to have talented staff ready to step up when needed. Our Assistant Principal of Instruction, Ms. Riddle, will act as our Interim Principal while Mrs. El-Amin is away. Our District Leadership Team will be supporting her as she transitions to this role. Ms. Riddle has been an integral member of the School Leadership Team since our doors opened, leading instruction and building relationships with scholars and staff. She is more than ready to assume the responsibilities as Interim Principal. Ms. Riddle may be reached directly at tavi.riddle@tlabeloit.com; 608-690-5152.
Please feel free to reach out to me kristi.cole@tlabeloit.com if you have any questions. I look forward to seeing you all at our upcoming Parent Teacher Conferences next month!
State Exam Results
The TLA community of scholars, families, and educators have worked very hard to ensure rigorous academics leading to these strong baseline scores. On the Forward Exam, we celebrate scoring within 5% of the state proficiency average in ELA, English Learners are 1% away from the state EL proficiency average in Math, Economically Disadvantaged scholars are within 3% of the state ED proficiency average in ELA, and our Black scholars nearly doubled the proficiency rate of the Black scholars in the state in Math and ELA. On Aspire, we surpassed the proficiency rate of the state in ELA, TLA 47% and WI 36%. We also surpassed the state in Science proficiency, TLA 32% and WI 29%. We have growth to make to ensure we reach the vision of TLA. Specifically, we intend to focus more intently on increasing achievement in Math this year.
6th-8th grades Forward Exam proficiency rates are as follows: Math 19%, ELA 25%, Science 24%, and Social Studies 46%. 9th grades Aspire proficiency rates are as follows: Math 23%, ELA 47%, and Science 32%. Overall, state exam proficiency was Math 20% and ELA 31%. Wisconsin scholars in the same grades, 6th-9th, scored 34% proficient in Math and 36% proficient in ELA.

Cooperation
Review Cooperation as a family! Search through your cupboards for some board games your family has not played in a while, or grab a deck of cards for a simple game of Go Fish. Pop some popcorn and have fun playing together! Look for moments of Cooperation that you can point out.
For example:
- Choosing which game to play
- Choosing who gets to go first
- Handling wins and losses
- Working together to solve a problem
Career Chat with Mrs. Benisch
UW- Platteville Construction Day
High School scholars attended Construction Career Day at UW-Platteville. It was a great way to wrap up our month’s focus on exploring construction. While on the field trip, scholars participated in many hands-on demonstrations, learned more about the UW-Platteville campus, and visited company booths. A few scholars had the opportunity to drive a mini excavator.
Manufacturing
During the month of October, we will be learning about Manufacturing careers. Scholars interested in the field are scheduled to participate in a panel, industry field trip, and career chat.
