Principal's Message
Dear Bulldog Families,
The Hamilton Southeastern Foundation supports our schools in a variety of ways:
* Teacher grants to support teaching innovation and student learning
* Student scholarships for high school students
* District Initiatives: Elementary Literacy – Fountas and Pinnell kits, Emergency Trauma Kits, Excellence for ALL, FHSE Social Squad, Fitness Gram health and wellness program, HSE21 Project Based Learning and supportive technology, and Scientech Summer Institute
New Britton Elementary has directly benefitted from the district initiatives and from the teacher grant opportunities several times in the past few years with the most recent being this year. Mrs. Peters (kindergarten) wrote and received a grant for a light table and other manipulatives that her students can use to collaborate, explore and learn more about science, math, and literacy.
One way that families can support the work of the Foundation is to attend the upcoming Game Day. This is a casual event packed full of fun, food, and festivities.
For more information about our Foundation, please visit their website at http://hsefoundation.org. As always, thank you for partnering with us in education.
Sincerely,
Lori Mankin
Dress for Recess - Winter tips
As we head into the coldest months of the year, we want to remind families of the recess
procedure at NBE. We follow the HSE Elementary Handbook for guidelines to offer our students the much needed outdoor recess time while always ensuring their safety:
"Recess will be held outdoors whenever possible. Precipitation, sunshine, cloud cover, wind chill, temperature, etc. are all considered when a decision is made for indoor recess. In general, recess will be held indoors when it is raining or the temperature/wind chill falls below 15 degrees Fahrenheit. Recesses will be kept to 10-20 minutes or may be moved indoors at the discretion of the principal or designee; Children will be watched/monitored carefully for necessary action. The temperatures are based on recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatrics."
Please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for outdoor recess daily.
This should include warm coat, hat, scarf, and gloves.
