A Note from the Induction Team

From all of us in the Office of Teacher Support and Development, happy holidays and safe travels over the winter break. We hope you get lots of much deserved rest and relaxation and return in 2015 rejuvenated and recharged.

What is City Schools Induction? City Schools Induction is a three-year, comprehensive program that provides teachers, non-tenured and new to the district, with support structures and professional development opportunities to network and grow as a community of continuous learners dedicated to uncovering effective teaching pedagogy and practices and raising the bar of achievement for all students.

Navigating a Performance Improvement Plan

Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) serve as structured action plans to support performance improvement. The Office of Teacher Support and Development is offering an informational session for any first through third year teacher who are on a PIP. The session will be offered twice – 1/13 or 2/2 – from 4:30 – 6:30 PM at Central Office, 200 E. North Ave, room 120.

Teachers can register for the session through the Professional Growth System starting January 5th. Contact Tina Jablonowski, tjablonowski@bcps.k12.md.us, with questions.

New Teacher Institute for Late Hires

Were you hired after August 11, 2014? If so, you are invited to attend the New Teacher Institute designed specifically for late hires. In order to receive credit for attending NTI for late hires, participants must attend both days of training: Tuesday, 1/20 and Tuesday, 2/10 from 4:30 - 7:30 PM at Central Office (200 E. North Ave), room 301.
